NOt a great end to my song I'll admit! The window closes 5pm Sept 1 because of the August bank holiday by the way.
I'm going to dash through this, I've had enough!
Portsmouth's defender, Sylvain Distin, linked to Villa over and over could be on his way to Everton according to the Daily Mirror.
Another link... and this would be a relief... Sol Campbell might go to Notts Forest, again the rumour is in the Daily Mirror.
The Sun say we are after West Ham defender... no, not £12m rated Matthew Upons... this time James Collins.
Not true though this, we already have one ginge and as we all know, you can only have one per team!
The Wales international is apparently available for £5m and MON is hijacking the proposed move for the 25-year-old to Stoke.
The Mirror are again claiming that Craig Gardner could be on his way to Birmingham City for around £3.5million. Not totally sure on this one, he might well be tempted to take a move after finding himself on the bench and a couple of kids preferred ahead of him BUT he was played last night which maybe suggests a move isn't iminent?
Think that is about that at the moment.

Does anyone agree with me......This all stinks that our club has no money? It seems to me Mr Lerner has pulled his belt in a couple of notches too far!!

Sigh... Honestly with our current performances and squad I can't see us staying up. Our only striker who can score isn't playing. A midfield that belongs in the championship, wait it is from the championship basically. And currently we can't even field a team with 2 CB's... Only positive is I'll get to spend more time with my girlfriend cause its not worth wasting my time watching this *****! Ridiculous... Im not blaming Mon or Randy currently because its not clear where the problem lies... But there is a problem... Only club in a worse position than us is portsmouth and thats not saying much! AAAAAARGGGGHHH...

it doesn't make any sense to say we have no money when we are giving our shirt sponsership to a great charity(no complaints),we spend millions on unnessesary ground improvement,millions on injured player etc etc...,now whether the chairman has decided not to allow mon any more money is a different story!!!!!!!

Sol is off to Notts County not Forest. I cant believe their is no money as we spent so much on Downing and Delph, although they dont benefit the first team. Just seems we are inept at buying players! MON is too narrow minded, only buying from the Championship mainly, followed by Celtic and PL. Seems we have no scouts in foreign countries where the bargains and creative and technical players are to be had! We really looked sterile in our last 2 games, and that comes on top of our disasterous finish to the season. If we don't change quickly, we are relagation candidates, then no good players will want to join us, MON will walk and leave us well in the brown and smelly!

The transfer window isnt over yet and im trying to have faith in o'neil to bring in the players he should but at the moment it just doesnt look good at all. i mean upson and distin and 2 good solid centre backs and would be good and same with warnock he would be a good lb better than shorey but then james collins?? is the man desperate or something?? where has the money gone? oh i no on 2nd rate players lyk downing and beye, lets just hope downing cann recover quickly and live up to that ridicilous 12m price tag and also hope that he can be a replacement for barry in that centra if its a 3 man midfield bbecause doesnt look like a good replacement is coming in does itt??

An awful lot of gloom and doom today. Well I remain a little more optimistic. I honestly believe that our squad is good enough to remain in the top 10, but only if we stop trying to accommodate Heskey in the squad and go back to the 4-5-1 that we were winning with. It all comes down to our formation. Yeah we lost Barry and Laursen and it sucks, but guess what, Barry was in the squad that kept losing at the end of last year. So look up fellow Villians, if O'Neil simply changes our squad tactically I think we should do fine. Oh and an afterthought. Shorey is absolutely miserable. id like to see Belhadj the left back from pompey join us to replace shorey, not sure what people think of that 1 reli?? i think he is a decent player every time i have watched him but saying that i havnt watched him much but he seems a good attackive left back, what do people think about him??

Sorry for coming to the party late - but does anyone know why we are not going going for Hangeland? He seems tailor made for filling the boots of the much missed Laursen.
It seems like a no brainer to me. Why on earth would we pay 12m for Upson who is 30 when Hangeland is available for similar money and is younger and better.
Distin seems like a decent choice but I'd have him as backup for Hangeland not instead of.
I know Arsenal's interest might make us second favourites with the player but Wenger is well known for not wanting to pay over the odds for players - but in this case I think it would be warranted to pay over the odds. We have looked hopeless without Laursen and we need to fill his boots as best we can.
