Villa In £12m Upson Bid?

Villa In £12m Upson Bid?

Skysports.com is claiming that Aston Villa have bid £12million for West Ham and former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson.

The 30-year-old has been linked to several in recent months as West Ham look to ease their financial burden and the defender is said to be keen to get his England career fully back on track.

Manchester City and Spurs have been linked in recent months and another article said there was a chance of a return to Arsenal for him also. Looks like Villa might have stolen a march by bidding. Hope so, think he is solid and would be a great signing. I'd suggest the Holte End might need to change their song for him though... !

If we got Upson, I feel the tone of the articles / comments would take a serious U-turn! He'd be an ace signing - defence is definitely our weakest area.

Would be a great signing. He's a left footer isn't he?

Agreed - a good acquisition if it comes off. Then watch Gianfranco go and buy 2-3 nippy Italian wingers for the money he'll get..
