Balance Of Strikers Right - No Newbies Expected?

Balance Of Strikers Right - No Newbies Expected?

MON has backed John Carew to be on the goal trail this season. As everyone no doubt remembers, despite 3 months out injured, he managed 15 goals last season and the Villa boss said the Norwegian international can do even better this season.

He says JC, when fit, is a handful adding 'I've often said that he possesses more ability than he thinks he has himself. He is pivotal to Villa.'

He also says his goal run at the end of the season helped Carew realise what he could do at this level.

And on the balance of strikers, he explained to Sky Sports:

'We have Gabby Agbonlahor, Emile Heskey, Carew and I think young Nathan Delfouneso will come through as well.'

Again, the key, 'if we can keep them fit' THEN there are goals to be had in the team.

He also states that there should be good supply from the likes of James Milner, who set up a lovely goal for England the other night and Ashley Young, not to mention the fact that some of the midfield should be able to weigh in with some goals themselves.

So there you have it, doesn't look like MON is in the market for a new striker and most probably never was this summer.

Forum thread: Do Villa Need Any More Strikers?

Article: Do Villa Need Any More Strikers?

Poll results: 68% say Villa Need More Strikers!

Proof indeed that MON doesn't take advice from Vital Villa!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

Villa are never in for a striker! It's good that he is showing faith in what we have but if he doesn't buy a striker then i want to see Harewood stay and actually used during the season. Their is no point in paying him to sit on the bench. Yeah he isn't gonna light the world on fire but sometimes all we need is for someone like him to rough up the defences on 70mins when they are tired! It's a squad game, so use the squad.

Gabby is a wide player not a striker. I hope he does brilliantly for us, but if he is what I call a striker then the Fonz is a colossus bruiser of a centre half. He has scored some goals, and hopefully he can rediscover the goalden touch, but he is not a 6 yard box sniffer of chances nor a leader of the line. Here's hoping the Fonz is the former. John Carew is certainly the latter.

We cant rely on Heskey, Gabby or Harewood for goals and John needs some competition. Gudjohnson, Tuncay or Huntelaar for me PLEEEEEASE. Get rid of Marlon and send Nath on loan
