Villa Distance Themselves From Tuncay + Press Talk

Well, the Birmingham Post say that sources at Villa yesterday insisted Tuncay had not been the focus of the visit {to see Middlesbrough v Sheffield United}, O’Neill was simply at the game as a spectator. Not sure if that means 100% we aren't after him but I guess if we wanted him, we'd have got him by now as he is obviously for sale and so why not bid when we brought in Stuart Downing?

Other reports are still insisting we are after him and obviously the report yesterday: Boro Striker fee agreed? had the Mail telling us we'd agreed a £7million fee which led to our poll:

The Daily Star say that Villa may well soon be welcoming David Wheater. The Guardian also discuss the three Boro links.

They claim MON sees Tuncay as a 'luxury' player and the price perhaps too high.

Meanwhile we have a few players who have been linked to Villa being linked elsewhere to bore us with!

The Telegraph claim West Ham's defender Matthew Upson could be Manchester City bound and has refused contract extension talks with the Hammers. This might be of interest to Villa who were also linked this week (and several times since the transfer window opened)

Another report, this time in The Independent, says another Villa target - Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin is wanted at Man City by Mark Hughes.

The Daily Mail say Fulham have put a £15million price tag on Brede Hangeland who has been linked strongly to Arsenal recently and to Villa a few times not so recently!

Another old Villa link may well now be Everton bound if the Independent are right... this time Arsenal's defender Philippe Senderos.

And finally the Daily Express claim Sol Campbell is considering an offer from Notts County! Phew!

boooooooo think we should have gone in for Upson a long time ago. Cool, collected and reliable AND 1st back-up to Terry & Ferd for England. Stil think Tuncay would give us a completely different dimension through the middle, therefore would be an excellent signing. 2 in by weekend I think.

I'd like to think 2 by the weekend too Mikey...IF that does happen, say Wheater and Sneijder (gulp) I wonder if they'd go straight in against Wigan? Wheater probably not but...

Whats the point?we are not playing for any points as things stand now.run this poll at the end of the window or at the start of the season and it would be worth doing.

on a slightly different note, was chatting to my toon mate and he reckons the £2m fee for Habib Beye is worth it for his song alone... "sunday, monday HABIB BEYE tuesday, wednesday HABIB BEYE thursday Friday HABIB BEYE......" to the happy days theme... classic!!!
