68% Say Villa Need More Strikers

Vital Villa asked, in our last poll, following my award winning (I gave myself a tufty badge) article: Do Villa need any more strikers?

Do Villa Need Another Striker?

You see the genius at work, the article and poll relate so well... I really should be commended (or committed?!!!)

68% think yes... of course we do... Not sure if Martin O'Neill voted in that category though! :o)

26% said they would rather see us get another striker but aren't overly worried.

That left just 4% saying no and 2% unsure.

Our latest poll asks you how confident you are for the new season. I'll ask a where do you think we'll finish later in the week as a follow up to our early summer one (hopefully after a few more player arrivals?)

Hmmm aparrently Heskey played well in our lastest match, but i don't rate him from last season, Carew is hit and miss with injuries, (another season older) and i think all our hopes fall on the shoulders of Agbonlahor, Young, Delph and Downing if he gets his chance. If only we pushed the wage budget up a tad and also spend a bit more like we should, i think if we brought in Huntlaar and either Van Daar Vart or Sneijder and either Dunne, Upson or Hangeland and you can say Villa will be playing Champions League pretty damn soon.

Delph's not a striker, and isn't really the sort of player to play off 'in the hole'. Downing, Milner or Ash could do that job though. I'd be very suprised that if/when Harewood goes we don't get another at least atticking player in to replace him, if not an out and out striker. Personally, I see the priority as being in the middle of the defence.

Lorenzo - Delph is a Defensive mid with attacking vision, he dosent get forward as often as people think, he is known for his pin point passing and from deep. if a miracle happened and we go Van Der Vaart, Sneijder, Dunne and Hangeland and possibly Huntleer then we should expect champs league next season on top of wining europa league this term UTV

Really ??? i haven't heard nothing :( great, Owen, Bent and now Huntlaar we have missed the chance to sign... We need a striker but who ??? Also about my comment on Delph when i say our hopes remain on him, are like Barry with the vison and passing, i don't believe our hopes are on Petrov, Milner, Sidwell, Reo Coker, Harewood, Heskey, or Gardner for creating or scoring goals.

We most certainly do need another striker, at least one, preferably two, someone who will offer us options and alternatives to the so called strikers that we currently have at Brummagem B6. While our current crop of strikers look the part on paper, on the pitch, where it really matters, they are (John Carew apart - when he's actually fit and raring) actually a fairly impotent lot, failing all too often to score the goals we need. We've had difficulty scoring goals for some time now, and despite the varied strike partnerships that Martin O'Neill cares to run with, we never look a threat in front of goal. In reality Carew, Gabby, Heskey and Delfoueno, the latter promising but still far from the finished article, never look like consistent goalscorers, and until we find that genuine penalty area threat, our goals for column will continue looking far from healthy.
