Another Real Madrid Star Linked + Other Press Talk

Another Real Madrid Star Linked + Other Press Talk

Been a few days since I have been able to do a transfer round up, not because I'm lazy, just there hasn't been enough about and unlike some reports, I don't just make them up! :o)

Aidan Magee of the News of the World , I'm sorry kind sir, but you are talking total pants! His report today says Spurs are ready to make a 'new' bid for England and Villa winger Ashley Young. A new bid? There hasn't been a bid as far as I can make out and if there was, you would certainly expect them not to make a joke of themselves by bidding just £21million for the 24-year-old former Watford man.

Full details: TOTAL PANTS - Ashley Young Is Going Nowhere!!

The News of the World also claim, having put 2+2 together with MON at the Middlesbrough v Sheffield United match the other night, that we are set to bid around £7m for England U21 defender David Wheater. Another that might be tough to prize away from the Riverside with the club desperate to hold onto him.

The Mail on Sunday meanwhile say Villa are set to 'swoop' for Wheater but they claim the price will be £8million. Well, what is £1m amongst friends eh?

The Mail On Sunday say that West Ham will have to sell England defender Matthew Upson in order to 'ward off creditors'. The paper claim the player would cost around £10m. Everton, Villa and Manchester City have been linked in previous months.

Are reports linking us with Wesley Sneijder wide of the mark? Well according to the Mail On Sunday it is another Real Madrid midfielder we are after, namely Rafael van der Vaart. I approve of this one as it is a bit easier for me to spell than Sneijder! Apparently the same trio as always seem to be linked to the players we 'want' Tottenham, Manchester City and Everton are also interested but we lead the chase.

Oh go on then, he'll do! :o)

The Sunday Express claim that Manchester City captain Richard Dunne is set to move to Villa for £5million. Villa are in the market for defenders, are Man City in the market for sales?!

The Sunday Express say that Villa, Everton, Liverpool and West Ham are all interested in Marseille’s 24-year-old playmaker Mathieu Valbuena. The report quotes him as wanting to move to an ambitious club and his agent says his client is interested in the Premier League. His agent warned (?) "Mathieu is a player that needs to be motivated to give his best." So the wages for a job aren't motivation enough? Have to be for the rest of us don't they?

I'd go for Sneijder...BUT I was out with some guys from Madrid last night and they said that Sneijder has turned into a total booze hound in the past season. Apparently he's always out chasing the ladies and drinking with Sergio Ramos.
