Unoial Villa News...

OK, so we all know we've signed Habib Beye from Newcastle, but what does a Newcastle fan think of the player? Well, this one thinks we've got a cracker: Newcastle Fan 'Beye A Cracker' Of A Signing

Habib Bebe told the official site following his move: 'I think Villa is a great football club. I was really happy when my agent told me Villa were interested. I just said 'get it done.' I wanted to sign for this club. It's going to be great working for Martin O'Neill because Villa have a great team. I am so proud now to play here.' He also says it was crucial for him to keep his career on track in the Premiership, admitting the problems at Newcastle were what forced him out and adding 'I think joining Villa is a great step for me.'

Is MON saying he is going to play Stewart Downing in the centre when fit? Looks like he might be thinking that way: Stewart Downing To Play In Centre When Fit?

A few links to Villa have moved or are moving elsewhere but then we get a very tasty link to Real Madrid's 25-year-old flying Dutchman Wesley Sneijder: WOW Player Incoming? Villa Transfer Talk

We seem to talk about this every season and every season nothing actually gets done... Can you do anything? For me I think these things just 'happen' and then catch on... What am I rambling on about? Whether Villa need an anthem or not, I would have thought it was perfectly clear! :o) Full article: Do Aston Villa Need A New Anthem?

MON is up for the friendly saying it is great preparation for next weeks Premiership kick off: Fiorentina The Ideal Preparation

We asked yesterday: How Many MORE Players Will Villa Sign? 47% believe another 3-4 will come in following the arrival of Stewart Downing and Fabian Delph. 25% predicted just two and an even more miserable 9% said just 1. 2% were suicidal in their assessment saying no more players... ! That left 12% voting 4-5 and 5% sure another 6 or more would arrive. It has also left me wondering whether I should get out more!

Just wondering now though, are we looking to start the season with the strikers we have already only? Full article of wondrous pondering!: Do Villa Need Any More Strikers?

The Sheriff is back in town with a that was the week that was: The Week In Villa #50 (31/7/09 - 6/8/09)

Just for those that don't know by now, Aston Villa have been drawn against Austrian club Rapid Vienna in the Interflora, sorry, I meant Europa League. Dates: Villa Have Rapid Austrian Trip In Europa

Mike Field: Martin O'Neill has said after yesterdays draw that sees us pitted against Rapid Vienna and although we can expect a tough two tie against the 32 time Austrian Champions, we will not be treated this challenge lightly. He also says this year we are going to 'try out utmost' in Europe...: Villa To Really Try In Europe This Season

Steve Wade: Ayup! He's a grand lad. Villa actually signed a player this week and by all reports, he had full use of both his legs. The trouble is, that Villa lost a player too, as midfield man-of-steel-and-rock, Stiliyan Petrov, became unavailable after dislocating his shoulder. So, as far as numbers are concerned, we remain where we were. Full article: Something For The Weekend (246)

Fabian Delph has come here for the football, the money isn't the motivation. So nice to hear! Full quotes: Delphinitely Not About the Money

My niece is 7 today... she's a princess, in the battle between seeing Villa and celebrating her birthday, she's won. Happy Birthday Izzy!

Thought for the day: I phoned the local builders today, I said to them 'Can I have a skip outside my house?' He said, 'I'm not stopping you!' and a bonus one: This cowboy walks in to a German car showroom and he says 'Audi!'
