Vital Newcastle editor Ross has sent me a quick interview (top lad, he is away for the weekend so did this via his WAP... very kind and very appreciated)
1) So are you surprised that you've sold Habib Beye?
Given Beye has been quite vociferous about wanting Alan Shearer and whacked in the transfer request it's not the greatest of shocks.
2) More to the point, are you surprised Villa have bought him, is he any good?!?!?
Regarding Villa, I'm so happy he's going to a decent club and not Hull. I detest Phil Brown and wish him and the Tigers the worst for 09/10. Habib was totally had regarding the direction the club and has played under 6 managers already at NUFC in 2 years
3) What sort of a player are we getting and are you sorry to see him go?
As a player he's fantastic - passionate, cultured and marauding. Had he not been crippled by that thug Cattermole and missed 4 months I think we would have stayed up. You're getting a cracker.
4) If he returned to St James Park having left, what sort of reception would he get, surely a player owes it to a relegated club to stay and try and get them back up again, or was this a good move for both club and player?
If he ever came back there would be no animosity, he's well liked and well within his rights. He was always dedicated and if all our players had his attitude then, again, we wouldn't have gone down.
5) How do you see your season going, straight back up or tough times ahead?
I can't see us going straight up. Our striking pool consists of Ameobi and Carroll and I can't exactly see them firing us to glory! A long hard slog awaits methinks...
