WOW Player Incoming? Villa Transfer Talk

WOW Player Incoming? Villa Transfer Talk

A few links that can now be dismissed it seems!

Spurs have completed the signing of Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong for around £8million. We were linked earlier in the week.

Darren Bent has completed his move to Sunderland, must admit I'm really surprised Martin O'Neill didn't fancy Bent, I thought he'd be perfect as he is on the fringes of the England set up, is young (25) and has the handy knack that people seem to like in strikers, he shoots and scores!

Looks like Newcastle have agreed a fee as reported on Vital Newcastle for Habib Beye who we are buying aren't we? Well, maybe not, the fee has been agreed with Hull City. Will Villa nip in? Well the press linked us several times this week

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed an interest in Fulham defender, strongly linked with Villa a month back, Brede Hangeland according to the Independent.

Ok, those are the boring bits of possible links 'missed'. I say 'missed' because it is only the press telling us we were after them, not the club so half or more we've probably never even talked about buying!

Now for the interesting one and the one that won't go away.

According to The Guardian MON has expressed interest in Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Now many have been waiting for a WOW player since the arrival of the new regime and manager, this 25-year Dutch playmaker / midfielder could well be that man!

The report, as well as ones that have gone before it, say that Real Madrid need to sell a few players to help fund the massive transfer's they have made this summer and Sneijder could be on the list of potential exits.

As we quoted earlier in the week, his agent has said the Spanish giants want to keep him but that is an agent talking!

Other reports had claimed Internazionale (Inter Milan to me and you mush!) wanted him on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Nice thing about this report is there is at least a quote from the Villa boss!

'I think that the more creativity you have in your side the better chance you will have. These are particularly special players who are not (usually) available. If there were players like Sneijder, who have great talent and might be surplus to requirements at a club that is buying, then I think you should be interested, even if that interest is not reciprocated. Because how else are you going to try and improve your team?'

COME ON!

The same report also link us again to Newcastle United full-back Habib Beye as mentioned above and still say we might come to an agreement with Portsmouth for Sylvain Distin.

The Daily Star quotes Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate as being 'amazed' that no one has bought striker Tuncay yet but still says the 27-year-old will no doubt be gone by the end of the transfer window.

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate admits that he is 'amazed' that Tuncay is still with the club but expects the 27-year-old to leave by September. Villa were strongly linked at the time we bought Stewart Downing but it doesn't look like we've followed up on the interest, if indeed there ever was interest!

The report says that the player is now looking at options abroad despite reported interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa. Hey, might as well throw in Spurs and Everton as well, they are usually mentioned along with us for players!

Southgate said: 'We have had several calls but no written offers, though things are heating up. He would like to stay over here but is now thinking he may have to play in Europe.'

Is it just me or does he seem to be suggesting in the Sneijder bit that the player isnt interested?

It does a bit don't it. Would LOVE him at the Villa, but just can't see it happening. I'm officially being negative about this, and would love to be proven wrong! Would really like Tuncay as well, I don't see the problem to be honest, just sign him! Hmmm, I'm being a bit grumpy for a Friday. Not like me at all!

sneijder would be the signing of the season but as MON has spoke about him being a target i doubt that he actually is one now or he would have kept it to himself unless a deal was nearly done but in that case surely he would just say a deal is nearly done great to see were aiming high but i still think defour will be our man

There was also a quote from a Madrid bigwig (Valdano) saying that Alonso was the last signing and now they are looking at a few exits. Can't see him coming to us if I am being realistic but would love to see him put on that number 23 shirt in the colours of Claret and Blue.
