Monny's Delphinitely Happy With Fab New Signing

Monny's Delphinitely Happy With Fab New Signing

Nope, don't think I could make that headline any worse, so here goes. O'Neill has said that Delph has all the 'talent and determination' to be a huge hit in the Prem.

Speaking on the official site today about our new signing, O'Neill also confirmed that fans will get the opportunity of seeing the wonderkid in the upcoming friendly against Fiorentina.

O'Neill insists Fabian Delph has the 'talent and determination' to be a massive Barclays Premier League hit.

MON also revealed that Villa's new signing will play a part against Fiorentina on Saturday.

O'Neill also doesn't believe that Fabian is the gamble that most fans seem to think he is.

'People have spoken about Fabian being a gamble but I don't agree at all because I think he has real Premier League ability. I have absolutely no doubt he is a top-flight player. He is not fazed by this move.

'While it will probably take a few weeks for him to adjust, he definitely has the ability, talent and determination. I think he will be a big success.'

Although it's obvious Delph will play a part in our early season if far more signings do not arrive, Monny has said he isn't going to be thrown in to see if he sinks or swims, he'll be given time to settle first, so probably plenty of reserve games with the odd sub appearances you'd expect.

'I am not expecting miracles from him. I want him to settle in, like Ashley Young did. It will take a little bit of time and then he'll be flying.'

Delph also has obvious England ambitions, as Monny chose to add:

'I am sure it is in the back of his mind that Villa have a number of players who have a chance of getting on that plane at the end of the season to South Africa. That, in itself, is a big incentive.

'He probably gave that some thought when he decided to move.'

Whether he is good enough for a England space at the end of the year, only time will tell, for now let's see what he can do for us.

Well from all I read and hear, it is very definitely a signing to be applauded, and well done MON and the club for convincing the talented young man that a very bright future is awaiting him here at Brummagem B6. When we were initially linked with him back in June, he was a completely unknown commodity to yours truly, but certainly lately it has been very difficult to avoid the media inches afforded young Delph, all the scribes speaking very highly of his promise and talent. I thought that we'd missed out on him when we initially failed to agree a fee with Papa Smurf and Leeds U nited Football Club, and with Everton and then Manchester City sniffing around, our chances of landing him seemed remote. Unlike ric112, I was exceptionally delighted at the arrival of Stewart Downing, and I am of similar mind regarding Fabian Delph. Two very good signings Mart, but now we need four or five more...and urgently too!
