Wednesday's Aston Villa Transfer Talk!

Wednesday's Aston Villa Transfer Talk!

The Daily Mail have an article on Tottenham and former Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley who at the start of the summer transfer window was strongly linked to Villa. So strongly in fact the player said he was joining us!

The article suggests that Villa do want him but not at the price Spurs are holding out for, which they claim is £15million.

It does appear that Bentley will only be a bit part player and isn't really in Appy Arry's plans.

Redknapp said: 'He's a good lad and a good player but I've changed how we play and I've had results so nobody can complain. David is going to look and think, 'I'm not in the team, even when Aaron Lennon's not fit, and maybe it's time I moved on'.'

Interesting to see if the 24-year-old does end up at Villa, as the article says he needs to move to get his career back on track but to do that he'll need help from Spurs who have no chance of getting back what they paid Blackburn last summer!

A report in La Gazzetta, the first thing read in the Fear household each morning, suggests that the Villa links to Wesley Sneijder won't come to fruition as his agent says the player isn't for sale.

His agent Soren Lerby said: 'We have an understanding with Real Madrid that Wesley can't leave the club and nothing has changed there.'

The Journal claim Villa will sign Newcastle defender Habib Beye by the end of the week and are also interested in his team mate, right-back Sebastién Bassong who we have been linked with before.

And that appears to be all the press talk about today!

Arry would be stupid to sell Bentley to one of his biggest rivals. I think he would have done some sort of exchange deal involving Ash or Carew, otherwise no.

Sneijder's agent claims the player isn't for sale - has he told Real Madrid that, lol!

Redknob is stupid, Levy's transfer policy is scattergun at best. They have to sell Bentley, they can't afford to keep the bloke in the reserves. I agree Saurat, Real will sell if they have to, and it looks like they will have to. It's amazing they have gone down the Galacticos route again, it failed first time round.

If Bentley really isn't in Arry's plans, and that seems to be the case, then he would be best advised to sell, or does he want to carry on paying his wages as he warms the bench, his value goes down, and his ability and reputation. Eventually he will go on a free and has cost a small fortune as a bench warmer! Just like with Bent, in the end they will have to cut their losses and "bite in the sour apple" as we say in German. I still expect him to come to us, or maybe he can persuade Mark Hughes to cough up more than he is worth! Otherwise we will sign him on August 31 for 10 M!

Can't imagine us signing players like Wesley Sneijder unless we have: 1) CL footy to offer or, 2) Man City type wages to offer, IF he is a mersonary type! Stupid link, just there to take up space on the newspapers.
