Simon Jordan is a perma tanned bell end, but he is a businessman. If we stump up cash for someone from Palace in the future he'll sell no problem. Don't know what Boro's problem is but personally you are more than welcome to Stewart Downing, never have I seen a more overrated player in my life. They buy young english players, let them rot and spend millions on their 'main' team Modric, Jenas, Crouch, Keane, Defoe, Gomes, Corluka, Palacios etc. etc. could go on all day. Yep - makes you proud to be a Villan when the selling club comments on the way another club conducts their transfer dealings. Not only has the way we have dealt with the inquiries about Delph persuaded Leeds to do business with us, I feel it has shown Delph that VP is the right place for him to play his football. All being well, I certainly hope he lives up to his billing!

The way Villa fans go on about Spurs is kind of alarming. Well done, you've bought a youngster for £10million. The only link with us appeared in the papers, not from Harry's mouth. Leeds come out and say it's a pleasure to do business with you, which could be interpreted in two ways... you handled the transfer well (logical) or no-one else came in for him and that limited Leeds' scope (possible). I don't see why you're all getting so uppity just because of a statement that appeared on the Leeds website and in turn directing your bile at Spurs. Is this a case of trying to fashion a rivalry that isn't there? You go on about being a top five club (for the last couple of years only) but conveniently forget that that was our position until our hierarchy make a mess of it... you go on about Spurs being a "graveyard for young English talent" but then conveniently forget that we now have a manager who has a reputation for bringing young English talent through as well as forgetting (or not bothered to look up, either/or) that our youth team were runners up in the FA Premier Youth League to Arsenal and quarter-finalists in the FA Youth Cup (to Arsenal again, unfortunately!).... so what are your points? Give yourself a slap on the back for buying a decent, young, English player (unproven in the Premiership and possibly a tad overpriced, but that may be by-the-by) but your constant linking of Spurs to anything you do just says more about you than it does about us.

Mr A Villa: you want our fantastic players? Modric (who will prove he is one of the best in the world this year); Lennon; Palacios; Gomes theres 4 for starters that would improve your team no end. Eltoro, it's fair enough you've done well since MO'N came aboard. We had a similar upturn in form when Martin Jol came over and with those two consecutive 5th places. The thing was, we only ever shouted about ourselves to Arsenal and Chelsea fans as they are our city rivals. I'm struggling to think of a time when we went over to Vital Villa or Vital Everton just to tell them they were *****. But the number of Villa fans visiting our forum is just making a lot of us think that many Villa fans don't have the class that goes with a club that's on the up. We know we're not well liked, but the majority of us don't go looking for trouble. It always invariably finds us, as per the start of this thread. The bottom line is, there will never be a rivalry between us, no matter what the many Villa fans visiting our forums try to fashion. You have your way of trying to break the top four, and so do we. It will be an interesting battle. But if many of you are thinking that we'll suddenly develop anti-Villa songs for next season, you're gonna be sadly mistaken.

What is with this Villa obsession with spurs? A positive article on your transfer dealings has to get turned into 'a lets have a dig at tottenham' session in the comments section after weeks of doing so all over spurs' forums and blogs. Othello, you guys have only finished in the top 6 twice in 18 years!! We have finished second in this time. If you guys hadn't of finished 5th twice then you wouldn't be even mentioned in the same breath of Villa RE: transfers. I understand that its mainly the media that has created this hype but Harry doesn't help things atall (whatever anyone says)!! Its all banter at the end of the day and you guys don't get on with anyone in London but to say Arsenal and Chelsea without mentioning Westaaam stinks of delusions of grandeur to me. The rivalry between us is due to us taking over from your postition in the league, that you only had for 2 years out of 18 anyway, and a lot of fans of other teams find it strange that you think so highly of yourselves?? The main gripe this summer with us is over the Young transfer which most of your Vital users have assumed that he would relish the thought of doing for some unknown reason. London might be a nicer area than Brum in general but Tottenham certainly isn't. Young player of the year signs for team that just finished top ten and not in Europe, dream on...

In that same vein, do you consider Walsall and Witton Albion your rivals? The reason we think highly of ourselves is because we only had a bad decade, the 1990s, where we were in financial trouble and bad mismanagement. But still won trophies in that time. We've begun to find our feet again in the last five years so we should be proud of how we're turned things around, when you consider the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds, we could have gone the same way as those once-big clubs. The squad we have is certainly capable and just needs the right guidance, as well as a couple of additions. The talk of young was only speculation. The more informed of us backed you when you said he won't be moving, but the fact that a hell of a lot of your fans got wound up by a minority of ours saying the deal was a formality highlighted a few things about Villa fans as a whole. Spurs are still an attractive side to play for and to watch, which is why despite your comparative "success", people still talk about us, especially a lot of other fans. I don't think we really care what the consensus of other clubs' fans are, but it's good to know that we're still thought of and talked about, albeit in not very nice terms. Maybe there is something about us that other clubs strive to have in their own, who knows. Villa444: It's also a delusion of grandeur for when you start talking about 'Spurs not beeing in Villa's league' in the premier league era. I think what hurts is that you ARE in our league when you'd rather be actually challenging, we have the same aspirations. And to bring up a 1992 solitary top 2 finish to show how great you are is really sad...
