*Transfer Action* Villa Agree Delph Fee With Leeds

Sky Sports News are reporting that Aston Villa and Leeds have agreed a fee for 19-year-old midfielder Fabian Delph.

That doesn't automatically mean we'll get his signature, other clubs (Everton and Spurs have also been linked) could also meet that fee BUT it does mean we'll now be able to talk terms with the player and hopefully that will lead to our second signing of the summer following Stewart Downing's arrival from Middlesbrough.

More when we get it.

If he was to pick Citeh he'd be well daft, unless they are offering him absolutely ridiculous money I think he'll pick us anyway - more games next season, smaller squad = more opportunities. Us or Everton would be a good move for the lad, Spuds or Citeh would be the wrong move for him IMO (but then I thought that about Kyle Naughton, so...!)

Hi Villa i am a Leeds supporter. This guy is so talented you wouldnt believe it. He is also a fierce competitor and tackles at twice his size. He has an eye for long and short 'killer' balls and scores a few spectacular gaols. Whoever gets him will be lucky.

I would love him at Villa Park I certainly do not want him near Spurs - that place is a graveyard for young talent, get them young and cheap, ripping off clubs who nurture the talent (remember Palace falling out over Bostock) they go there to rot - Routledge (class at Palace until he was ruined at Spurs), Alnwick, Dos Santos, Tarrabat, Gunter etc. etc. Aaron Lennon is the only one not being sold or linked with a move - and even then they were ready to replace him with Bentley!!! They buy young english players, let them rot and spend millions on their 'main' team Modric, Jenas, Crouch, Keane, Defoe, Gomes, Corluka, Palacios etc. etc. could go on all day. Much rather he went to Everton (even though they are our more likely rivals!!) - watch Naughton and Walker rot at the Lane over the next few years!! At least O'Neill and Moyes give youngsters a go - and local ones as well, not poached from other clubs!! Then they moan about Berbatov being tapped up!!

Great post on AVFC.com about a statement from Leeds praising Villa for the way we have gone about this bid for Delph and claiming that Leeds has resisted offers from other clubs AFTER a fee was agreed with Villa. Some good signs about what is happening behind the scenes at our football club

Lets hope this episode teaches other clubs that tapping up players and playing their dealings out in the press isn't the "honourable" way of doing buisness. Its just not healthy to over price a player and attempt to start bidding wars between other interested parties - it affects all involved, fans, the clubs and players - just look at the Bent, Alonso, Barry sagas. You can count on the Villa to put some "realism" in our lives! UTV!

Good signing, a worthy investment. True about *****tenham ruining young players, dont forget about how they ruined bale, we should go for him, young british defender. Keep an eye on hoe Tottenham will ruin Kyle Naughton. Fits well. I still think we need another midefield signing though
