'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Little Brad's A Hero

Martin O'Neill has paid tribute to the performance of Brad Guzan during our Peace Cup final victory over Juventus.

Speaking on the official site this morning O'Neill called him 'absolutely immense' after keeping a clean sheet in normal and extra time, and then bagging himself two penalty saves in the shootout.

The praise wasn't just for yesterday's performance though, it was for his performance throughout the competition.

'Overall it was a great tournament for him. He played in the last three games and he was immense.'

As for his penalty antics, Monny couldn't resist saying:

'I think even I could have saved Alessandro Del Pierro's penalty.'

It looks like it could be Guzan's season this year, after making his appearances in our Cup games you would say he's odds on to figure in a few league matches.

'He is a real goalkeeper in the making. I have been saying that now for quite some time. He is a proper goalkeeper,' O'Neill added.

Guzan has had plenty of critics from what we've seen for the US and for us in his brief appearances so far, but reading round the forum it seems the tide has turned for Little Brad and many are hoping he gets the start in our match against Wigan so we can really find out what he can do.

I didn't think he was up to the job at Villa Park if im honest, when he first turned up i was hopeful because they praised him so much and he was basically America's best keeper who wasn't retired, But he came here and from what i saw i wasn't that impressed at all, but he has changed my mind after watching him in pre season, he may just prove his worth after all, For me Friedel let in way too many goals last season and is getting quite slow.

He has certainly won me over. I had my doubts but he looks better and better each game.
