Monday's Aston Villa Press Transfer Talk
The Daily Mail are repeating the link for Aston Villa to grab Real Madrid's Dutch midfielder/play maker Wesley Sneijder. The reports the other day said we were going to fight it out with Liverpool, the Mail claim we'll try to 'snatch' him from under the noses of Inter Milan.
The link to Sylvain Distin is also repeated in the Mail and the Independent (who also say we are still interested in 86-year-old former Arsenal and Spurs defender Sol Campbell)
The Daily Mirror say that Spurs are set to offer £10million for Chelsea and England midfielder Joe Cole who was linked to Villa last January.
The Sun say that Spurs striker Darren Bent will finally join Sunderland today for around £12million. We've been linked but as I've said before, it appears the link wasn't a serious one. Then again, things in football sure do change quickly!

According Sky Sports Rafael Van der Vaart has been told by Real Madrid that he is surplus to requirements. It is rumourd that he will return to HSV or Ajax. Real want the £13.5m they paid for him a year ago. Surely has to be worth a punt for us? If we can pay £12m for Milner we can pay a tad more for an already proven world class midfielder. Opinions please????

I surpose it depends if we are really after Sneijder, we wont get both, but if we are really after Sneijder, we will concentrate on him first. But your right, why should anyone prefer Hamburg over Villa? Unless its for taxation reasons?

Indeed, but i very much doubt that Sneijder is a target. It would be a wonderful signing, but i can't really see him coming to Villa if Inter are actually chasing as it is rumourd. I would say Van der Vaart is more of a realistic signing as his options seem to be limited to the Dutch and German leagues. What a downgrade they are. I'm sure he would rather play Premiership football than go to Holland or Germany.
