'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Peace Out - The Kids Are Albright -

Martin O'Neill said after the Peace Cup victory, picked up deservedly against Juventus who fielded a strong team against our very promising youngsters mixed in with first team regulars that everyone will go home happy.

The Villa boss told AVTV that he couldn't be more pleased adding:

'It is great for the team and I am particularly pleased for the young players in the side, who performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. It was nice to have competed well and obviously nice to have won it. I think we will all go home very happy.'

LOL, he also said when Carlos Cuellar took a penalty his heart was in his mouth!

'It is great to have won the competition - great for the young players and very good for the senior players as well. They haven't had much rest between matches - we've had things to contend with in terms of injuries, illnesses and suspensions - and we even had to send for some reinforcements - basically three members of last season's Youth Team.'

Not that I could possibly have seen any of the game as it wasn't on tv and obviously no one uses the illegal streaming sites... (!) ... but I have to say the kids played brilliantly and even young Chris Herd who missed a pen, along with Steve Sidwell at least showed he'd got the guts to step up and take one and before some of the regular players. Marc Albrighton also stood out all competition, looks like we've yet another great crop of youngsters who will be banging on the first team door very soon.

Stats, well team news anyway: Stats Villa v Juventus

Still buzzin at how well our young players did.Feeling optimistic about the future again, alot of these young lads just need some game time in the league. We should make one or two big money signings and just play the youngsters.Albrighton,Lichaj,Guzan and the Fonz should all be squad regulars now.

Agree Pking - throw Bannan into that list, add Defour, Hangelaand and either Van Der Vaart or Sneijder and we are winning!!!

The kids look great, maybe we should take a leaf out of Arsenals book and let then have a run in the Carling /league cup, if they can beat Porto and Juve then why not?!

Let the best of them have a run of about 38 games in the league is what I say - we have nothing to lose. We might have got some gems - lets find out. good enouh equals old enough.

If Petrov never got injured Albrighton would not of started games and we never would have won the peace cup. Funny how football works out sometimes.
