Not that many rumours or real hints of proper signings at the moment, all going a bit stale link wise!
The People say that Sunderland are set to bid for Spurs midfielder David Bentley who has also been linked to Everton and more strongly to Villa ... so strongly the player was even quoted as saying he was on his way!
Apparently Sunderland will bid around £10m for the 25-year-old who cost spurs £15m from Blackburn last summer.
They are also after defender Michael Dawson if you are interested, which you probably aren't!!!
The News Of The World say that Everton are now in the box seat to sign Valencia's 29-year-old Portugal international right-back Miguel who Villa have also been linked with several times.
The People have an exclusive saying that both Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers are after Newcastle defender Habib Beye. The 31-year old Senegalese international right-back would prefer a move to Villa Park according to the reporter. Hull were also interested.
Beye has apparently put in a transfer request.
The News of the World says Villa will move for 27-year-old Blackburn winger Stephen Warnock this week with a £5m bid expected. Must admit (again) the conversation I've had with a few folks in the press suggest this isn't as likely as some reports suggest but you never know. Apparently Spurs are also interested in the former Liverpool player.
The Sunday Mercury have repeated the rumour that Sporting Lisbon have given Villa an ultimatum to put up or shut up over the Miguel Veloso transfer. They have apparently set a price of £12 million and a time deadline of 72 hours.
Jermaine Jenas has again said he is happy at Spurs despite strong links to Villa. 'It is all rumour to be honest. I am happy at Tottenham and it happens in football. There comes a time when the transfer window opens and people start talking. It happens.'

I reckon we are still in for Bentley, but Daniel Levy is doing his usual by wanting top dollar and will make us wait until 31st August, like he did with Berbatov, Carrick, etc., etc.

Habib Beye and Veloso please! We need a playmaker midfielder, and Beye would be great and needed cover for Luke Young, and to stop us wasting NRC or Cuellar in that position! Makes sense, go for it Martin!
