Friday's Villa Transfer Talk
So far only one player in and with the new season in two weeks time I think it is fair to assume that reinforcements will arrive in the next week?
I personally see the Peace Cup as a distraction, and would happily see us crash out to Porto in the Semi-final if it means we can make a signing or two.
One link that seems to pop up every few days is Jermaine Jenas. And today according to The Mirror, Martin O'Neill is going to offer £7 Million for the Spurs Midfielder, they claim O'Neill will step up the chase due to Petrov's injury serving as a reminder of how fragile the squad is. If he needed Petrov's injury to remind him then that makes me even more worried than I already was!!!
Several papers are saying that Ashley Young wants to stay at Villa and earn a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad in South Africa. Which we kind of knew anyway, good to see the rest of the footballing world is catching up.
Well thats it my fellow Villans, sad but true, ah well game against Porto tonight so an opportunity for Martin O'Neill to do a bit of scouting? Probably not.

Still a month till the transfer window closes, all MON has said is that he would 'like' to have a few players in before the season starts, we all would 'like' it to happen, that doesnt mean it will... It's getting to the point where any signing would help, 17 possible extra games in the europa league and a squad of currently 18 players.... and the only player we have brought in is crocked and plays in the position where we have the best player in the league in that position?!

Well, another wasted week! I am afraid this will go to the wire and the chances are we won't get who we need. Mon is sounding more l;ike a politician each day with all these promises to the future but no delivery. His middle name is not 'Gordon' is it?

I don't care about transfers. All I care about is winning the Peace Cup. So excited about tonight's game! A chance for silverware! I hope Martin is out there on the training ptich with the lads now instead being on his telephone to agents and players.

I've resigned myself to not having any hopes..nor anticipation...
If its any consolation..my son signed Gerrard and Lampard on Fantasy League!

olofthegreat, that is very random. The Peace Cup is meaningless, surely ensuring we have enough players to compete in the Premiership is far more important? We didn't get enough last season and were burnt out by Feb.

So lets hope Porto tonight, and Real Madrid in the final and he bags a couple of players from there teams! We have been linked with several from Madrid and at least one from Porto! Come on Martin, take Randys check book to the game!

I think we need Jenas, Bent, Hangeland, Upson, cover for L.Young, and cover for Bouma, at a stretch i would say we need a better keeper, but perhaps we will let in a lot less goals if we have Upson and Hangeland, I believe we should of signed Owen when we had the chance, everyone says he is injury prone which is a good point but he played 70% of the games the last two seasons and when he does play he is worth his weight in gold.
