Albright On The Night

Marc Albrighton certainly earnt a post match celebratory drink last night, after bagging his first goal and first team win since being promoted to the seniors.

But far more importantly, did everyone notice what I did with the headline :-) Ok, so I'm the only one pleased wit that then. Moving swiftly along...

Speaking fresh this morning, the talented winger spoke to the official site about the experience, admitting that he really only had chance to celebrate the win as a lengthy goal celebration would've eaten into the teams time to score again.

'To score a goal is always an amazing feeling - and something I dreamt of when I was a young lad. I couldn't really celebrate my goal because it made the game 1-1 and we knew we couldn't settle at that - we needed more to get through.

'I kept getting reminded that I hadn't won with the first team - but that 3-1 win puts that statistic to bed. I'm glad that's over and here's to many more wins during my time at Villa.'

Albrighton also passed a brief comment on the atmosphere after the Malaga defeat and how different that is now we've qualified for the semi's:

'Everyone was down after the defeat to Malaga on Saturday - with all the lads thinking there was a mountain to climb. But we went out against Atlante and played really well for the win.'

Hope he gets a few chances this season, or hopefully a championship side will loan him and use him for 30+ games! Seems like he's switched on too which makes a change for a footballer!

tr1dent - what squad, at this rate we'll struggle to put 11 players out every week. On the up side for him he'll get loads of chances. On the down side knowing MON he'll get his chances in goal or as a central defender :-)

gna be a villa Ledge? Sorry you've lost me jimjim96. I'm not the brightest light on the block, and its obvious that I'm missing something, but as of right now, I have no idea what you're saying. Yes, impressive showing by young Marc, one of the better performers to date throughout our pre-season warm up campaign. Always had potential, but went missing all too often at times, when playing at reserve/youth team level. Still has a long way to go, but at least he continues to develop and improve.

I don't understand all this about giving some younger players a few chances. A few? If they are good enough stick them in the team fronm the off and keep them there.

I think i've figured Villas transfer policy out. There is a reason why we are not signing players, and that reason is that MON is going to throw all of these young fringe players into the mix. Albrighton, Bannan, that Austrian kid et al. will all be coming to the fore. Lets hope that they are good enough.

PiperUK, No that is the reason MON hasn't brought any squad players as of yet, i see Albrighton, Bannan, Delfons, all as back up players next season, but at the moment the most important thing is to buy FIRST team players, Defour, Hangeland, Upson, Bent, Huntlaar, any of them players would class as first and important signings.
