Keano, Bent, Upson, Distin.. Transfer Talk Time!

Keano, Bent, Upson, Distin.. Transfer Talk Time!

Ok, once again the press insist we are going to get at least one Spurs player this summer... they seem to want it, so Martin O'Neill 'make it so' (sorry, I came over all Star Trek for a minute)

The Daily Mail say that Villa are still 'monitoring' Robbie Keane with an interest in bringing the striker to Villa Park.

Keane joined Liverpool last season and then shot straight back to Spurs when Appy Arry took the reigns. However the report says that Keane's position at the club might be under question again following the arrival of Peter Crouch from Pompey. They assume that Arry wants to get the same striker combination as he had at Portsmouth, ie Defoe and Crouch.

It is also rumoured that Spurs want Real Madrid striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar putting further pressure on Keano.

To get the former Coventry and Wolverhampton Wanderers man, the Mail says, Villa would have to match his £70k a week wages. Yes.. and? We can do that! As many will remember, we very nearly got Keane straight from Wolves, however - despite the myth that Doug wouldn't stump up the extra £500k - John Gregory admitted that when he watched Robbie he seemed to have off games so he decided to pull out of the move... he also pointed out that 19 other Premiership managers also missed out on the player!

Sam Wallace at The Independent is claiming that despite Sunderland being favourites for Spurs and England striker Darren Bent, Villa are also still interested.

Strangely the reporter says Villa can't compete with Sunderland over wages and fees. I'm sorry... can you explain that to me? Of course Villa can compete on wages and fees!

The paper also claims that Bent is no longer training with the players left behind from the rest of the squad who are playing some pre-season stuff in China. Those left behind include David Bentley who was so strongly linked even the player himself said he was Villa bound!

Another report links us once again to West Ham and former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson. The fee is thought to be around £12million. Yes please, good defender, just what the doctor ordered! The report says that Upson wants to play in Europe to boost his England World Cup chances and that the Hammers would listen to reasonable offers.

The report says that O'Neill stll also wants Pompey defender Sylvain Distin but won't pay the £4.5m Portsmouth want because the player is in the last year of his contract.

Ha, the Mirror disagree, they say we are ready to offer £4.5m for Distin!

One we were linked with last season, 24-year-old Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth maybe moving to Fulham for around £2million.

Another other former link, apparently Newcastle have accepted a bid of around £9million from Wolfsburg for 24-year-old striker Obafemi Martins.

So the new poll asks which you'd prefer, Keane or Bent? I'd be happy with either, Bent is youger and was top scorer last year, I think he'd fit in very well?

Bent fits in with our current style of play, Keane offers something a little different to what we already have, so I voted for both!

Oh & I'm all for Fulham signing centre-backs, as maybe that'll mean Hangelaand is on his way to us (I doubt it but I'd like it!)
