Transfer WAR... What Is It Good For?!

Couple of decent links today, both make sense and both have been mentioned before. Someone asked me the other day, what do you think will happen first, Villa sign a top player or the sun comes out... touch and go I'd say!

Anyway, according to the Daily Mail today, Stuttgart have offered £9million for Turkish striker/attacking midfielder Tuncay. Why is only his one name used? I digress. The 27-year-old, who has been linked numerous times to Villa, is apparently also still being chased by Villa as well as Everton and Tottenham.

Is he worth £9million? He always looked ok to me but can't say I paid that much attention. He moved on a free from Fenerbahce. Looks like he can play up front, as a support striker or on either wing according to the Boro page on him. Click Here

Tuncay Sanli (see, he does have another name!) scored 8 goals in 27 games for Boro.

The Daily Mail say that we have already bid £6million and Everton and Spurs both wanted to pay around £5million. Apparently Tuncay wants to stay in the Premiership.

According to The Sun Hull and Stoke are part of the tug of war for England striker Darren Bent.

Also in the running are Sunderland, some reports suggest he has already had talks with them and that he had his trip with the Spurs squad cancelled at the last minute so he could do so. A report yesterday said the striker would prefer a move to Villa.

The Sun today say that Stoke and Hull are also interested and will match Sunderland's bid, I think it was claimed yesterday they'd bid £15million.

The paper further claims the 25-year-old will have a medical at Sunderland today.

The Sun doesn't mention us today, some other internet gossip sites are still linking us and lets face it, the press are determined that we sign at least one Spurs player this summer!, so if Villa are going to move, they'll have to move quickly....!

Vital Spurs article: Villa make late bid to snatch Bent.

Bent has 25 goals in 43 games for Spurs. Surely that scoring rate would come in very handy for Villa? He was a marmite player for the Spuds but he is young, on the fringes of the England set up and looks to be exactly MON's sort of player? Full stats on Spurs official site: Click Here

Or maybe the wild rumours that we are going to bid for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will come true!

And that appears to be that for the day... well so far anyway!

UPDATED:

According to The Times Villa are after Trelleborgs central defender Rasmus Bengtsson. Apparently the 23-year-old Sweden U21's contract ends in October meaning he can move for £400 000. According to his wiki page, he has played 70 times for Trelleborgs FF scoring 11 goals!

Huntla would be perfect signing, then all we would need a attacking/central mid like jenus, and two cb maby distan and 18m for a good player, lescot he's worth it, villa fan too. 45- 47m for all four players and villa's sqaud would be perfect for 4-6 place finish and a good europa team too.

I would mother fudging love us to sign Tuncay. Seems like an MON type of player in personality too. I'm all for us signing players to strengthen in positions we need to, as it's a necessity. But I'd also like one or two of these signings to be players that really offer something different to what we already have, and Tuncay fits the bill for me.

Get in Bent and Tuncay. Bent is a proven prem player with hunger to get into England World Cup squad. That would mean we have 4 top strikers to rotate (Heskey & Carew as the hold up and battering ram players, Gabby & Bent as the pacey players with good finishing) + some promising talent in the Fonz & co on the fringes. Tuncay should be our playmaker behind the 'front 2' if we are playing 4-4-2 with Petrov holding. I think Gardner could learn a lot from Tuncay. Still need some solid defensive players though as we ship so many goals its unreal! Upson would give us confidence and solidity, Distin is overpriced at £4m so maybe grab Campbell on a free for a bit of experience - if he turns out to be **** then we move him on! Or maybe Bouma will play central and we'll look for another LB?

I'd just like to point out my obvious mistake in classing Heskey as one of our 'top' strikers and referring to Gabby as a good finisher. My apologies.

Think Bouma will still take a long time to be fully ready for first team action and then he has to get match fit... still a long haul.

Maybe Heskey will become prolific this season? I'll get me coat...!

tr1dent, i am impressed that you have mentioned 4 players and spelt each one wrong. However, the chances of us getting Huntelaar and Lescott are probably on a par with you winning countdown!!!

With a whole host of Real Madrid players up for sale, is it a little unfair to just ask for all of them? Huntelaar would be huge if we could get him... From reading the opinion from alot of sites, seems like the top 4 really rate him. Would be an awesome state of intention from MON if he unveiled him tom :D Just wondering if anyone can explain the logic with selling of Zat without actually having a replacement signed... It seems really risky to have targets "lined up", cause if they don't actually sign we might actually struggle to stay up... God forbid we actually have an injury cause then we really will be in trouble...
