Should Zat Knight Be Sold? + Transfer Talk

Should Zat Knight Be Sold? + Transfer Talk

The Sun say Bolton boss Gary Megson is on the verge of a £4.5million transfer for Villa and former Fulham defender Zat Knight.

Our latest poll asks whether Villa should sell him or not.... which is nice...!

Serbian giant striker Nikola Zigic says he wants to stay at Valencia despite links to Villa, Sunderland, Blackburn and goodness knows who else. He told Las Provincias, a regular read in the Fear household: "I have rejected all the offers because my desire is to stay with Valencia the next season." Adding "My agent had many proposals from Spain and Europe but my decision was always clear. To stay at Valencia." Spain and Europe? When did Spain split from Europe, I missed that, was there a war when I nipped to Sainsbury for some bread?!

Pompey manager Paul Hart insists that he won't be selling Sylvain Distin with both Villa and Liverpool linked. He told Sky Sports:

"I don't want Sylv to leave – I have told him this – and I believe he wants to stay at the football club. He's got ambitions, like we all have, but we have got to be competitive this year. That's the important word, we have got to stay in this division. He's been great, not one ounce of trouble, not bothering me, not knocking on the door. We want him to stay desperately as well. He could be skipper but I don't want to talk about that just yet, I want to look at the situation first. But he is a fantastic presence."

The Guardian meanwhile claim that Pompey have put a £5million price tag on Distin's head... I would assume the rest of him as well. The paper says we've already had a £2.5million bid rejected and they want double for the 21-year old. Distin's contract runs out next summer so it might make sense for Pompey to cash in on him now if he won't sign a new deal?

Meanwhile Brad Friedel has told Sky Sports News that he is sure that Villa will be adding to the squad this season insisting we need to if we want to keep hold of our best players at the club. "We want to try to get as high up the table as we can. What I can say is Ashley is a world-class player and we're delighted to have him at the football club." He also says the players were all 'half expecting' the Barry's departure adding, "I know the powers-that-be are doing all they can to replace him. They've already brought in one fantastic player in Stewart Downing and I'm sure they're going to find someone else."

That appears to be that so far today. So what do you think, will Distin be incoming? I'd think it is all down to the player, we all know they have the power! Also, would you sell Zat?

Oh and according to Harry Redknapps comments yesterday, Jermaine Jenas isn't Villa bound: Jermaine Jenas Not Villa Bound!

Wasn't that chuffed when we signed him, especially after Gary Cahill was sold BUT surely we don't need to be selling players and he does make a decent enough squad player doesn't he? He had some good games last season, especially the second half of the season.

He was worth it for his goal against Arsenal! But I wouldn't be supprised if he is going. That would be in line with MON'S usual transfer behavior. He always sells before he buys. Just as he sold Cahill and Lloyd before he bought Curtis and Knight. I don't want him to leave, and I would find it hard to imagine he wants to leave as he is a Villa fan, but it wouldn't supprise me if he did. But not until after the peace pointles cup!
