Young For £18million? LOL.. Villa Transfer Talk
I can't find the full article online at the moment but the Daily Express have a 'story' and that is all it is, linking Villa and England winger Ashley Young to Manchester City.
Now the thoughts of them bidding isn't that far fetched, they have the money and pay obscene wages... so in some ways, you've got to worry about such things... however the report says they'll swoop in at £18million.
Errr... no they won't. They aren't that stupid. If there were to swoop, I'd suggest a price twice that would still be turned down?
Ho and indeed hum.
Meanwhile the Daily Mirror say that Liverpool will do battle with Villa for Portsmouth's 31-year-old defender Sylvain Distin who only yesterday was declared now for sale by his club. The Daily Mail also cover the story saying we'll up our bid to £3million.
The Mirror link says the arrival of Distin, who is prepared to move to Villa, will lead to us selling Zat Knight to Bolton. I find this hard to believe as well, MON is trying to build a squad to compete in all competitions and has already said that he needs at least 5 more players in. So why would he want to sell Zat who he bought from Fulham in his second season at Villa?

The Daily Telegraph repeat yesterday's link to Sunderland for Villa midfielder Nigel Hokey-Cokey.

A silly money buy out clause will be in youngs contract,O`neill is not stupid and knows the game,As far as him going to city,I would like to think he is the type of lad to turn something as crass as that club down,But you never know nowdays.He is our ronaldo situation,If we keep him in a villa shirt for another two or three seasons we will have done well and when he does go to a utd or chelsea i will wish him well,He has been great for the club so far.

jimjim96, that would be the key IF a team did come in for him. IF (and not saying he will) the players starts to get agents involved and wants out, we all know what happens. I don't think that will happen though, he's at a good club with good youngsters coming through, got Capello waxing lyrical about us and is still young and developing. We need to make sure we can push on to match these players ambitions though... they have to play their part obvoiusly.. in order to keep them long term.

The scousers can't afford to put cream in their coffee so a bid for Young seems unlikely unless Alonso goes to Madrid for that £30m price the tabloids keep going on about.

if city bid around 30 mil i can def see him going especially as he'll almost certainly double his wages with the money they can throw at him.

He's on 56k I think? They will more than double that. I'd take 30 mil. If we sold Ash and bought 2 quality winger/attacking midfielder types I'd be chuffed. He's still not with it all season and he's deffinitly not worth 30 mil to another club. Defour and Moutinho for Ash, that'd be lovely

to citeh, they will have to pay 40 -60mill, ronaldo worth 80+ ribery 60+ then about 50mill isnt wrong to ask for, he gets goals and assists, lets be fair oneil landed on his feet with young, not many other of his signings are that great.
