I can't find the full article online at the moment but the Daily Express have a 'story' and that is all it is, linking Villa and England winger Ashley Young to Manchester City.

Now the thoughts of them bidding isn't that far fetched, they have the money and pay obscene wages... so in some ways, you've got to worry about such things... however the report says they'll swoop in at £18million.

Errr... no they won't. They aren't that stupid. If there were to swoop, I'd suggest a price twice that would still be turned down?

Ho and indeed hum.

Meanwhile the Daily Mirror say that Liverpool will do battle with Villa for Portsmouth's 31-year-old defender Sylvain Distin who only yesterday was declared now for sale by his club. The Daily Mail also cover the story saying we'll up our bid to £3million.

The Mirror link says the arrival of Distin, who is prepared to move to Villa, will lead to us selling Zat Knight to Bolton. I find this hard to believe as well, MON is trying to build a squad to compete in all competitions and has already said that he needs at least 5 more players in. So why would he want to sell Zat who he bought from Fulham in his second season at Villa?

The Daily Telegraph repeat yesterday's link to Sunderland for Villa midfielder Nigel Hokey-Cokey.

no way would they insult Villa with a bid that low, to even have a chance it would have to be double that surely? He has 4 years on his contract as well.

of course villa would sel knight and bring in a better c/h like distin. Then buy another one to extend the squad. Osbourne, knight, salifou and harewood must go!
