'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Davies Dreams Of Being A Goal Machine

Curtis Davies was thrilled with his goal against Peterborough, but was slightly disappointed it wasn't a 'proper' game.

Speaking on the official site Davies admitted he wouldn't mind repeating the finish a few times in the Premier League when our campaign kicks off properly.

'It's just a shame it wasn't in a proper game so I could celebrate. But it's one of those things - if I can do that during the season I'll be a bit happier.'

Which wouldn't be a bad thing, let's face it, with the retirement of Laursen we need to find a new defender to take the mantle and chip in with 5 or so goals a season from the back.

Speaking on the goal itself, Davies admitted there wasn't much else he could do which I think can be roughly translated as 'it would've been harder to miss'.

'It was the only thing I could do!

'The ball came to me, I had it under my feet and I just took it away from the striker and saw a space.

'When I squared to Marlon I thought he was going to shoot, but he squared it back to me and I put it in.'
