Pre Season Build Up Less Hectic
Martin O'Neill is looking forward to a more relaxed pre season build up this year, after our Intertwobob commitments last season.
That being said though, he says each game will still be competative and the players will be working hard to achieve full fitness in readiness for the forthcoming campaign.
Speaking on the official site the gaffer said:
'There are pros and cons to any pre season.
'The last time around we got into playing 'must win' games very early on but we will have a gradual build up this time around.
'It's going to be interesting but still very competative.'
Villa face Peterborough and Colchester before heading off to Spain for the Peace Cup which as we keep being reminded is full of teams of fantastic quality like Porto, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Everton and man city are going to leave us behind and the end of next season we'll hear the "we had the smallest squad" excuse yet again! find who you want, pay the fee and pay the wage..No Risk No Reward! we need at least 6 players jsut to stay still..8 or 10 to truly compete.its drivin me bonkers

Talk is cheap - action is what we need. The longer he leaves it the tougher it will be for the new signings (if any) to gel and settle in.
Preseason is only a few days away. I just hope he proves us all wrong and shuts us up.

Yes, I'm going down to Colchester Matt_Us. No idea why, cause no doubt by the time I've returned from Peterborough and then Layer Road, I'll need a lengthy break from watching our lot. After Lincoln last July, we said no more away trips for pre-season games, but the pull of AVFC is such that we simply cant keep away. Added to the fact that we four lead dull and boring lives, so hitting the road gives us something to do. See you there Matt_Us.
