Ashley Young Linked To Man Utd & Spurs
Here we go again...! The press seem to want to facilitate a transfer for Ashley Young ! The Daily Star have a report by Paul Hetherington claiming that Manchester United are set to offer £25million for the Villa and England winger. Some reports are claiming that Ash is Sir Alex Chewalot's number one summer target and lets face it, after the massive sale of Ronaldo they have the funds. But £25million?
The worry is it is all well and good us as fans saying no way, and it is all well and good the club saying he isn't for sale, but as we saw with Dwight Yorke when the Old Trafford lot come knocking, the players want to go.
The Star go on to claim that Barcelona are also interested in the 24-year-old former Watford player. The one thing on our side is he has a long contract having agreed better terms last season.
The People also carry the same link.
Meanwhile, same player, different club! The Daily Mail claim that Spurs want Ashley Young and are prepared to offer up a £25million swap deal.
The report, by Joe Bernstein suggests Spurs want to offer David Bentley + cash to take the winger to London.
The Mail also claims that if he fails to lure Young he'll compete with Villa for Boro winger Stewart Downing although Appy Arry has to raise money before spending money. They also claim that Robbie Keane linked to Villa a few weeks back, is also available.
One line in the Mail does cause a slight worry! O'Neill is loath to lose his brightest young star but accepts he will face a fight to keep the Stevenage-born player, who fancies a move to London.
Chelsea have also been linked a few times this summer.

yes i do have to agree with the post on the yorke issue fear, id hate young to leave, but they majority vote saying theyd sell for £15m is a joke, in todays hyped transfer prices hes got to be worth at leat £25-30M, and seriously i have not that many worries, ash would be made to see out some of that 3 year extension he signed, and carew wellllll, but after the initial shock of reading two of our most influencial players are on the move, i do realise that everyone is replacable, and if martin can bring a carew and a young in once, he can do it again, fans support the club and players support themselves, occosionaly once in a blue moon does any set of fans have a relationship like carews and the villa fans, in mon i trust

Hopefully (as you say) its just paper talk.
If they made a bid there would be no stopping him moving.

This young German we've been linked with MESUT OZIL looks excellent and just the sort of player we need. Along with VELOSO and DELPH, they would be a perfect start to our summer signings.
If we make some serious signings before a bid comes in for ASH then it may give him something to think about

Hackspur Villa aren't a northern team mate they're midlands. In all honesty i'd love Ashley Young at Spurs, we should have signed him 2 years ago when he was stalling signing for Villa when he knew of our interest but we opted for Kevin Prince-Boateng and everything turned out fine... Young is a class act, we all knew that when he was at Watford so don't give it the whole "we discovered his talent" b0ll0cks but at the same time, I think Villa are definitely nailed on to keep him. Even with European football again this season Villa you don't have the same pull as a big London club and never will but I think Young is fairly settled at Villa park and will opt to move unless a top 4 side come in for him and good luck to you, at the end of the day, he's your player and no-one can force you to sell him if you don't want to

This is the sort of thing that really irritates other supporters. The difference between what spurs supporters think their club is in the scheme of things, compared to what it actually is getting bigger by the day if idiot comments like yours are anything to go by

Exil started off so well looking like one of the few sensible/mature Spurs fans and then his true colours were shown!! He supported Arsenal as a kid and blew you guys out to come and play for MON. We both offered the same amount and he chose us. Get over it you jealous loser. His talent was always there but we nurtured it. Young PFA player of the year and won Premiership Player Of The Month 3 times in a calendar year, a feat never before accomplished. All under the guidance of MON and John Robertson who played the same role back in his playing days.

The guy is contracted for 4 years - seems to enjoy it, getting England recognition etc. I worry what knock on effects are - with no Barry, Laursen and Young would the likes of Carew or Gabby hang about (Gabby seems to be his best mate)

I think alot of people just need to calm down a bit because this is all getting a bit stupid aint it. Both clubs have great history and are trying to play the game in the right way. We have the same aspirations as each other while improving ourselves trying to help the English game by developing British players. While my team fell quite spectacularly at the first hurdle i was still none the less over joyed that you fought hard throughout the season in much the same way i expect spurs to fight week in week out. The transfer Market is a very fickle mistress (Which every fan of football is no doubt aware of) which is highlighted every season by apparent non sensical signings each summer with Ronaldo going from one of the most succesful sides in football to one that as of late has been running on empty. As fans we see our clubs like our children which we would fight for to the bitter end and as such i would no more wish to put down your child as i would your team or have the same done to mine. So i just hope that this name calling on both sides could die down and we can concentrate on football than on rows brought out by journalists that know pritty much nothing about each team. Good luck for next season lads and i hope i bit of sence on both sides can be restored.
