South American Invasion At Villa + Other Links!

South American Invasion At Villa + Other Links!

Ahem, cough, cough. Billy boy in the Birmingham Mail has a couple of links..!

Apparently two South American's have issue a 'come and get me' shout to Villa.

Why just Villa?

Report doesn't say. Then again, it wasn't long back he had the bearded wonder Olof Mellberg on the way back to Villa!

Anyway, the two linked at Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao. I only know this because my Baggies loving window cleaner flashed me the paper earlier on laughing! He'll not be laughing when it comes to his Christmas bonus this year, that I can promise you!!!!!!!

22-year-old Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani plays for Palermo in Serie A. The report says he is valued at £12.8 million and has also been watched by West Ham.

23-year-old Columbian internatinal Radamel Falcao plays for Jaun Pablo Angel's former team River Plate and apparently was linked to Liverpool and Benfica.

Agents working for the pair have been in touch with Villa this week apparently.

Now that might be true, but then can you imagine how many agents get in touch with Villa each week? Bloody hell, even I get emails from players in some countries (along with General's from Nigeria!) who mistake Vital Villa for the official site....! I tell you, one of these days I'm going to take up the buggers offer of coming over for a trial and take them down the local park at Redditch....!

The report also repeats the links to West Ham's Matthew Upson, Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin and Manchester United's Wes Brown.

He also suggests we'll still make a move for David Bentley. Correct, gold star, top of the class!

There were also links in various reports today to the Sweden U21 international Marcus Berg with Spurs also still being linked as well. We've covered that link several times with video and other info though, so lets leave that there eh?!

Oh and before I go get a cup of herbal tea... The Express & Star claim Martin O'Neill is on red alert. Yup, vindaloo can do that to a man. Oh hang on, no not that sort of red alert, this is for a signing. Fulham's Brede Hangeland, linked to Villa several times, has rejected a new contract at the Cottage. The 28-year-old Norway captain was pinpointed by fellow team mate John Carew as the man Villa should be after, claiming last season he was in the top 3 or 4 adding, 'He is the complete defender.'

Now, if it was Hangeland I. for one would be happy, he is far better than the other CB's we have been linked with and if Big John says he is good, who am I to argue?

Shame we didn't sign Hangeland before he signed for Fulham. Then again, maybe Marty feels Cuellar will prove to be a better player. Let's remember that the same centrad defender can look great in one team and terrible in another. Aaron Hughes, for example, was almost as important as Hangeland was to Fulham last season.
