'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bouma's New Season Resolution

Wilfred Bouma has one burning desire as we head into the new season...get that claret and blue shirt back on his back and hear the roar of the B6 crowd.

Speaking on the official site Bouma explained that he can't wait to repay the faith shown in him by the club and the fans during his spell out injured.

'The only thing on my mind is getting back out there. I can't wait to put that claret and blue shirt on again.

'I want to be back playing with all the boys again because Villa have been brilliant with me and I want to give them something back for the support they have shown me.'

Speaking on last season, and sitting the whole campaign out, Bouma was very impressed with the achievements of the team and he can't wait to return to help us push on.

'The lads did really well last season - brilliantly - and the challenge now is to repeat that or better it. In football and in life generally, challenges are good.'

Bouma has certainly had more than his fair share of challenges over the last 12 months. Fingers crossed he makes a return for pre season and some good competition between him and Shorey can bring the best out in both of them.

I do like Billy Bouma. Hope he's still the player he was looking like before the injury hit....it was a nasty one to come back from, and the concern must be that he might not be able to get back to that level?
