Friedel Taylor Made For Captain

Holte End Hero and all round 'good egg' Ian Taylor says Villa already have the perfect replacement for Laursen as captain...Brad Friedel.

Speaking to the Express and Star Tayls explained that Brad is perfect captain material and like his Laursen he leads by example as opposed to shouting at everybody.

"Brad has a wealth of experience. He seems the captain type. Gareth and Martin led by example rather than being screamers and shouters. Brad is the same.'

Tayls says he's not normally a fan of keepers being captain because they are stuck at the back and don't really have a direct route to midfield or attack, but given our limited options Friedel stands out for him.

"It has to be a mainstay of the team who will be playing every week, so with Brad you know he`s going to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.'

Speaking of alternative options he points to Nigel Reo-Coker who may or may not be at the club come the season kick off, and whilst Davies captained the Baggies he believes him to still be too young for the position given Villa's aspirations.

So for Tayls the only really option is Luke Young for an outfield player, pointing out:

'He`s a level headed guy and captained Charlton.'
