Unoial Villa News...

Peace out brothers and sisters! The tickets for our summer pre-season tournament .. namely The Peace Cup, are on sale and Martin O'Neill said on the official site that the competition should be 'interesting' but laments the fact Villa won't now be facing Celtic who have pulled out of the competition. Full article:

Stiliyan Petrov says that that 31-year-old Villa striker Emile Heskey will settle and show his true colours (I'm assuming they are now claret and blue?!) next season. 'Emile is an outstanding player. He is an England regular so that proves just how good a player he is. He has added further quality to the squad. Sometimes players just need a bit longer to settle in. Emile will come good next season.'

England U21's, who won their group after a 1-1 draw against Germany (with the equaliser coming from a corner taken by Craig Gardner who was captain on the night) will face the tournament hosts Sweden on Friday 26 June. Full details: Villa Trio Hope To Face Sweden For England U21s

Former Villa boss Graham Taylor has told Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor that next season they'll need to up their game. Meanwhile former Villa player Dion Dublin says there is a question mark over the Villa players next season adding that they will have to live up to the pressure brought about by the performances and 'success' they enjoyed last season. Everton and Aston Villa have both been linked to Spurs £5m rated defender Alan Hutton albeit only on a gossip site without quotes or sources. Just looks like a repeat of the press link from a few weeks ago.

All the UEFA Cup date details have been released, we face our first games in the play off stage in August. Full details: Villa's European Dates Announced

Transfer talk for Wednesday. Bit rubbish today really.. hey ho! The Mirror say that Aston Villa are set to bid £1million for German keeper Gerhard Tremmel. The 30-year-old keeper is apparently looking to leave Energie Cottbus and has also been linked to Blackburn Rovers. The rest: Wednesday's Aston Villa Press Transfer Talk

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Avfc94 and Benham + others: As things stand, where will we finish next season? We'll ask this again after a few purchases and obviously, as usual, before the season starts. At the moment 54% voted '7th-10th..bad' 11% were optimistic we can go one better than the last two seasons and grab 5th place and another 11% voted we'd finish 6th again. Thought for the day: DEPRESSED people: Instead of attempting suicide as a 'cry for help', simply shout 'Help!' thus saving money on paracetamol, etc.
