Bumper Villa Transfer Talk...!

Ok, so we've covered the report in the Sun with David Bentley admitting he is in talks with Villa: Bentley Admits He Is Villa Bound

What else is going on today?

Well, I don't think I like this one very much!? In fact, as BOGOF's go (you buy one, you get one free you see) they CAN bog off surely?

The Mirror claim they will offer David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas to get Ashley Young.

Don't be so stupid.

The reporter, Darren Lewis, claims Appy Arry is willing to listen to offers for Bentley (as we've already established, he is in talks!) and Jenas who haven't impressed him. Apparently the 23-year-old winger is 'known to be unsettled' at Villa after we sold Gareth Barry.

The report also claims that Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested also. Now if they came in, I think we'll struggle to hold on to the PFA Young Player Of the Year, but not Spurs, he has no need to make a sideways move at this stage of his career, especially as Fabio Capello is a regular at Villa Park and has spoken in glowing terms of what Villa are doing with young English players.

Chances of this happening? ZERO.

The Guardian says that Martin O'Neill will make a move for Middlesbrough and England U21 defender David Wheater for a price believed to be around £7million.

A brief link in the Daily Star repeat the link to Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour who is rated at around £13million and also interesting Liverpool.

Wiki on Defour: Click Here

Hull City manager Phil Brown has confirmed in the Hull Daily Mail, a regular read in the Fear household, that he wants Villa striker (apparently?) Marlon Harewood in what other reports say will be a cut price £2million move. He said of the 29-year-old: 'Players with Premier League experience would interest us and Marlon Harewood is that type of player,' Adding, 'He's got good ability and he's a big and powerful forward. He is the type of player that we are looking for and there's interest from us.'

Just wondering if any of these are any good for Villa? (Ahem, quality!!!) as Real Madrid are apparently going to offload up to nine players to recoup the stupid sinful money they've paid for Kaka and diving goofey Cristiano 'more step overs than someone with loads of step overs' Ronaldo. And what a list it is! The Guardian claim the following might be available: Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Klass-Jan Huntelaar, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Royston Drenthe, Javier Saviola, Gabriel Heinze and Mahamadou Diarra.

Apparently Spurs, who have been linked to Ruud, are being put off by his £90 000 a week wage demands. Then again, if he only costs a reported £1.25million to buy, would that be so bad?

Oooh, nice little snippet, albeit with no substance or source from sport.co.uk saying John Arne Riise could be on Martin O'Neill's wish list as Roma look to offload the former Liverpool left-back who have financial problems. The 28-year-old was linked to Villa, amongst others, when leaving Anfield.

Riise is only 28? He wouldn't be a bad buy if he was available.

Fear, the Hull Daily Mail used to be a regular read in my house too once upon a time. As for a ZERO on Young rumours, I think if the Barry thing showed us anything it was that people are willing to make sidesteps, Ashley is a young lad and bright lights of London might attract him, as I say following the Barry to Man City transfer I think it is rather foolish to make a statement like that. If he wants to go and O'Neill decides to let him then it will happen.

Over here Riise is being linked with Barca, even with quotes from the player saying that he is flattered at the interest and if an offer came in he'd have to consider it.

Incidenttally, Riise is a vile little man who would get no respect from me even in a Villa shirt. Mind you, it would be fun talking about Mr SMS Flirt.

quite why you'd want agree to sell young to anyone is beond me... Jenas has never looked brilliant, although bentley COULD be good at villa, he wouldn't be a patch on young. but the two together may work quite welll...

Wouldn't mind Saviola, Sneijder and Huntelaar! On another note, I am blown away by the lovely music that accompanies the Defour video! Simply Sublime!
Layzee
agree YJ, but no way would they let him go on a swap deal like that, if Man Utd or Chelsea come in for him though.... for the right money.... ?

lol, leelindsay, don't start that argument again! No, I'll stick with sideways, we are both big clubs who could do things (but actually don't!!!)

Wouldn't say no to a season or two of Ruud capitalvilla, depending on his fitness etc. If he is fit enough, he'd still walk this league.

If the money is right from Spurs I would take that also. I do love Young, probably our best player currently BUT if he wanted to go I wouldn't stand in his, call me old fashioned but I want players committed to the cause, if he is then I am sure he will come out and say so like Carew did last week. And if he is here come September giving 110% then even better!!

Riise is a jerk. Van der Vaart is a good call at under 10mill, and i have always liked Heinze.

i can't see us being in for so many spurs players, whats the point?? 3 midfielders and even Bent at one stage. unless Mon wants to turn Huddlestone into a defender and swap reo-coker for jenas!?

If Bentley is worth 7m and Jenas 5m then Spurs would have to add another 18m on top of that to meet MONs valuation and i dont think they could afford to do that. Only Chelsea Or Man utd have the money but even if we got 30m i'd be gutted to lose our most exciting player.

Van der Vaart or Sneijder would be brilliant!! Could get the former on the cheap as he only cost real 8m and hasn't settled or played much, maybe 6m?

I dont really think I would accept £30m - once you get past £15m or so its silly money. Think about it - Ronaldo goes for £80 - Man Utd board say that that money will be available for Sir Alex - people then consider the 30-50m they usually spend on top of that 80 (and £6m for Frazier Campbell), estimate a budget of £130m then push prices right up!! Valencia could have maybe went for £8m in Jan, Ribery £25m now they will have to spend close to £100m to get the two of them. IF and it is a big IF we sell Young for £30m+ I hope Martin just says the money will NOT be available for transfers.
