Harewood Out, Bentley In? + Other Transfer Talk

Harewood Out, Bentley In? + Other Transfer Talk

Ronaldo from Manchester United to Real Madrid for £80million. Real must be mad, they could have had Moustapha Salifou for half that! How long before Ashley Young is linked to Old Trafford I wonder?

According to The Mirror, Middlesbrough want Villa misfit Marlon Harewood with a price tag of £1.5million apparently put on the players head by Villa.

They say the 29-year-old is wanting out so he can get first team football after failing to make an impact - as most predicted at the time? - since moving for £4million from West Ham in the summer of 2007.

He was on loan at Wolves last season but they've not followed through with a permanent bid. Hmmm, I wonder why that would be? Good heart but he really hasn't developed from early promise at the Hammers into a Premiership grade player has he?

The Mirror also say that Villa want Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou. Anyone remember his brother Bruno from his days at Anfield?

Apparently West Ham are interested, along with Chelsea, in Manchester City's 19-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge. Villa had been strongly linked in January and whispers at the time suggested he wanted in at Villa Park. However that seems to have gone quiet ever since. He is out of contract in the summer however I read a report yesterday saying he could still cost as much as £10million as Man City could take valuations to the Tribunal due to the age of the player, they can look to recoup money they have invested developing him. Such a tribunal wouldn't hold up a move and the £10m would seem excessive, then again, there was the precedent set when Arsenal bought Theo Walcott. Ho hum, if he isn't Villa bound, I can't say I'm that bothered!

The Daily Express, along with many other papers, say that Harry Redknapp will have a clear out this summer and Villa linked David Bentley could be one of them. Apparently Spurs have put a £12million price tag on the head of the 24=year-old, the report doesn't say how much the rest of his body would cost.

The Daily Mirror say that Newcastle will offload players this summer with Joey Barton being one of them. NOoooooooo. Don't even think it Mr O'Neill !

Few more links by Dan Jones this morning including a really DUFF one... gerrit?! Thursday Villa Transfer Talk

Harewood out, Tuncay in. Just what we need, the missing element in our strike force, that bustling Robbie Keane type, but without the silly £20m price tag.
