Unoial Villa News...

Part two of our summer long transfer thread on the front page is up and running! The Aston Villa Summer Transfer Thread Pt 2

Vital Villa are now on Facebook and Twitter... just got to figure out what than means now! :o) Vital Villa On Facebook & Twitter

Reading manager Brendan Rodgers looks like he is expecting Kevin Doyle to leave with Villa, Spurs and yes, you've guessed it Everton (today in the Daily Star who quote £7million) being linked to the striker. Rodgers says it is difficult to hold on to Premier League quality players, especially as Reading are consigned to the Championship for a second season. 'I know when I was at Chelsea they were interested in Doyle so I know he is well thought of at that level. The reality of keeping him is difficult. I want the best players here but I am aware of the reality of the situation so we will see what happens.'

Vital Villa asked in our last poll, following links for Ashley Young to Chelsea, Spurs and Real Madrid. At What Price Would You Sell Ashley Young? 54% said no price, Villa should not sell him, full results: What Price Would You Sell Young For?

The News Of The World have an 'exclusive' saying that Aston Villa want Michael Owen. Strange really, because the People have the same story. Maybe it is a mutual exclusive?! Ho hum. News of the World reporter Chris Bascombe says that he'll have to take a pay cut of £70 000 in order to get his career back on track. That is Owen having to take the pay cut you understand, not the reporter..! Full links for Sunday: Michael Owen To Villa + Other Transfer Talk

The Fear... (!) ... takes the Vital Villan interview: Vital Villan Interviews: The Fear

The Daily Star claimed that Villa were going to bid ... well, actually they said 'raid' but that sounds too dramatic for my liking! ... for Spurs defender Alan Hutton. The right-back cost Spurs £9 from Rangers when Juande Ramos was boss. Apparently Redknapp is willing to let the 24-year old go and MON wants him for competition for Luke Young.

Vital Villa asked in our last poll, suggested by deano.avfc: Aston Villa v Man City 2010....will you.. applaud/boo/ignore/throw fake money at Barry. 46% voted applaud. 27% will print fake money and throw up in the air like confetti! That left 15% who would boo Barry on every touch and 4% who would boo Barry at the start and end. 8% will just ignore him. I'll applaud him unless I am eating my pie, then I'm sorry but all my attention goes to the steak and kidney, hopefully Gaz Baz will understand. :o)

Saturdays press talk including a link to Spurs for Ashley Young with David Bentley moving our way + cash! Full links: Villa Transfer Talk - Young To Spurs?! LOL

bazzah on AVFC and why there has been no comment from the club since losing Barry? Full article: AVFC - Politics & No Comment?

Stiliyan Petrov says he would love to be the new Villa captain after the departure of Gareth Barry and sad retirement of Martin Laursen. The 29-year-old Bulgarian, who only recently signed a new four year contract at Villa, said it would be an 'honour' to lead the team out. Full article: Stiliyan Petrov Up For Villa Honour

Fridays talk including, The Mirror have an 'exclusive'. Basically the reporter, Darren Lewis, has put 2+2 and come up with an obvious link and one that has been talked about before. The report says Martin O'Neill is facing a 'crisis' as he will have to fight to keep Ashley Young with Chelsea believed to be interested. They quote £20million. Errr, try again value wise please?! The report says the 23-year-old is concerned that Villa were unable to keep hold of Gareth Barry and thinks they might struggle to replace him. Full links: Fridays Villa Transfer Talk - Young Out?

Steve Wade: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.. If there is one good thing about players leaving at their peak, its that you never have to see them decline and lament how good they used to be. Something For The Weekend (239)

That was the FORTNIGHT that was, yup, the Sheriff has been in town with his Villa summary: The FORTNIGHT in Villa #2

Thought for the day: CINEMA goers: Please have consideration for pirate DVD viewers by having a p**s before the film starts.

how could we have missed alan hutton to Villa last week, that was very careless of us. I am fully expecting Jonathan woodgate and/or michael dawson to be next as replacements for martin Lausen..

Ashley Young: find it hard to believe he has made comments about Barry leaving as his departure was about as likely as Harry Redknapp trying to tap a few players up (hope he's not reading this, he gets a bit touchy about people trying to sully his good name!!) As for the club coming out and making a statement about Barry leaving: "Barry has gone to Man City for £12 Million"...there, thats out of the way. Been looking at some transfer talk this morning and think that we should go after the RB at Rennes, by the name of Rod Fannie...i for one would love to be chanting "we love you Fannie we do, we love you Fannie we do etc,etc.....

lol, that chant would certainly catch on, top shout! LOL
The Fear
getting a bit daft now isn't it Ox. I know 'Arry will want to move players on and shape the team how he wants it but they don't all have to be linked to Villa do they?!
