Unoial Villa News...

A feature on Setanta claims that 23-year-old Toulouse striker André-Pierre Gignac is on his way to Villa this summer. Bet that is news to Martin O'Neill but hey ho! Full details and video: Toulouse Striker Linked - See Video

An audience with Paul Merson: An Audience With Paul Merson

Gabriel Agbonlahor has spoken about Villa captain Gareth Barry saying: 'Everyone knows about Gareth, but it's football and he'll do what he feels it's right to do. He doesn't tell us anything. It's his business. It would be great to keep him and it would be great to keep all our quality players but it never happens like that, does it? We'll wait and see. I'm quite close to him but he doesn't really talk about what's going to happen to him.'

I can't find news of this anywhere apart from one site but according to them: 'Arsenal midfielder Samir Carruthers has completed his move to Aston Villa following a successful trial.' Details: Villa Make Their First Signing?

Sir Randy of Lerner has spoken and says any club interested in Gabby and Young can forget it! He is also confident that we can keep hold of Gareth Barry and says he would be happy to forgo a transfer fee in order to keep the Villa skipper for another year. Full article: Randy Lerner Speaks!

Oh jeez, he now won't shut up!!!!!! (Joke for those that are stupid enough not to realise... save my inbox filling with pleb comments!) Randy has now also talked about summer spending plans. He says he knows like all clubs that money will need to be made available for the summer and says he is also conscious 'of managing the players leaving and trying to generate funds from that. It is a balancing act but, yes, there will be funds. Will the credit crunch impact on funds available this summer? I don't really view the credit crunch as a big issue in terms of the funding for the summer. But, if anything, what has gone on in the economy makes you very conscious of building a sustainable business because, in the end, that is what you are responsible for doing.' And finally, he says if he had been offered two top six places when he took over, he'd have been 'delighted' and thinks MON has been 'fantastic'. Full article: Villa Chairman Says MON Is 'Fantastic'

The Sheriff is back in town with his that was the week that was for Villa: The Week In Villa #39 (15/5/09 - 21/5/09)

As the last day of the season approaches, when a few clubs will find out whether they are supposed to laugh or cry, the rest of us will be left to sift through the dross and the gold of the season and try and work out whether it was good, bad or indifferent. Most fans will have long ago put aside their dreams, come through their jeopardy unscathed, and just have to decide whether they love their team, any less or any more than last year. Bit of old news but one that hasn't featured in a Villa Times, the link from the Birmingham Mail to Villa's former bearded legend Olof Mellberg was basically just pants..! Olof Mellberg Link Was Simply Pants!

Oh and there was a bit of fuss last week as John Carew (you know the one, he's bigger than me and you) was linked to Manchester City: John Carew To Become A Citizen?

Vital Villa asked in our last poll for your man of the match v Newcastle United. Nice result for Villa captain Gareth Barry who got 53% of the vote! Next up was Brad Friedel... eh?... with 8% and Nicky Shorey with 7%. Full results: Man Of The Match v Newcastle United

Thought for the day: Apparently, 1 in 5 people in the world are Chinese. There are 5 people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my Mum or my Dad, or my older Brother Colin, or my younger Brother Ho-Cha-Chu? But I think its Colin.
