Sunday's Villa Press Transfer Talk

Is there to be a twist in the Gareth Barry tale? According to The People, it isn't just Liverpool chasing Gareth Barry according to The People, AC Milan, Arsenal and Man City are also temptedItalian Giants Want Gareth Barry?

The People claim that Tottenham midfielder David Bentley could be Aston Villa's first signing of the summer. The former Blackburn Rovers and Arsenal player was a target last summer but he decided to join Spurs. Now some fans won't like that fact but he is a London lad, his girlfriend/wife (?) is a London lass and I believe he was a Spurs fan as a kid, so it wasn't a major insult to us and my sources say he was very respectful towards Villa over their approach.

Be interesting to see how much the 24-year-old would cost this summer as he hasn't fit in at White Hart Lane at all but cost them £15million. They aren't known for throwing money away and usually do good business in the transfer windows.

The Sunday Mirror repeats the link to Almeria left-back Jose Mane which we covered earlier in the week. Bumper Villa Transfer Talk With Video!

There are also repeats of the rumour that John Carew who is bigger than me and you, is wanted by Manchester City.

The People say that Martin O'Neill is desperate to land Manchester City defender Micah Richards. Makes sense, he is young (21 next month) and on the fringes of the England set up.

Because of our January spending spree Harry has said we have to sell to buy and Bently is seen as expandable, but as you say we would probably want 10mil+ and with Villa already having Young and Milner on the wings that money would be better spent elsewhere (especially as you've got to replace Martin Laursen, try doing that for less then 15mil) however you know more about Villas team then I do...

Hopefully Mark Hughes means it when he says that he won't selll Richards. He is not a player who is going to improve either our team or our squad. I'd much rather have Daniel Sturridge. Perhaps we can swap him for Heskey?!

Richards is a good player and so is Bentley. If we buy Bentley we've got the option of moving Milner into the middle. Richards is a centre back or a right back so they are both no-brainers if the prices are right. Sturridge is a great shout but im not sure he's as prolific as we need. I think sturridge will be in the bag

'They aren't known for throwing money away and usually do good business in the transfer windows'..............are you joking they sold keane and defoe and then bought them back at twice the price, bentley was 15 million was he not a waste of money, darren bent is ok but £16.5 million!! spuds are dreamers, they even want barry!!, the table doesnt lie, they did well not to get relegated this season and if they excel next season they may be lucky and not get relegated again. I HATE SPUDS.

not saying I like them mate! They do some good business in the transfer windows though, they usually sell on at a profit. Keane was sold for a fortune and bought back for less I thought? can't remember the Defoe prices. That is what I'm saying though re: Bentley, are they going to have to take a hit on him? Same with Bent (actually, I'm starting to disprove my theory here!)... Well they got a fortune for Carrick anyway! lol

Carrick is class. I would like to see Bently and Bent in Villa Shirts next season I think MON would bring the best out in them, Im not dissing our 2 wingers at all thyve been great, but we need to improve the squad and give cover to help us move forward. The transfer window hasnt opened yet and Im already nervous!!
