'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Monday's AVFC Transfer Gossip

The Daily Mail have linked us with Toulouse striker Andre Gignac. Not only that but they say that could see the end of John Carew following his controversial fall out with Villa boss Martin O'Neill before the Ajax game.

Now if that had been printed a few months back, even after his pull out of the Moscow game, I'd have agreed, in fact it wasn't long ago I was convinced Carew was on his way out. However it appears that MON and the big man have put their differences to one side and Carew has played some of his best football since being at Villa and is seemingly the only Villa striker capable of shooting on target, let alone scoring.

So on the link I have idea, on the suggested exit, I very much doubt it, not this summer anyway.

The Daily Mirror meanwhile says Spurs might have a clearout with David Bentley who Villa also bid for when he decided to move from Blackburn Rovers to White Hart Lane being one on the list of exits. Maybe a return for the winger who has failed to settle at the London club? On the other hand, maybe not!

The Daily Mail also suggest Villa, Spurs, Arsenal, Hull and Bolton are after Anderlecht defender Roland Johasz. Basically if a defender is available or good be prepared for Villa to be linked to him all summer long! The report says he is rated at £5million.

Think we would be mental to sell Carew, I don't see Gabby or Heskey as prolific, and to bring in Gignac (who I hear is a quality player) who is unproven to replace him is madness, if Carew is sold and replaced by a top premiership striker then fair enough but someone from the French league? No thanks. Bentley is the sort of quality we need but I worry about the affect he would have in the dressing room.
