'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Tribute To Martin Laursen

Now let us remember how the Holte-end roared
And how even now all true Villans applaud
Of one whose greatness earns a pantheon's place
Amongst the Villa gods of power and grace

Our much loved doyen of the defensive art
A man of passion, skill: one huge dauntless heart
A brave winner in the game through Life's travail
One whose spirit taught us how the strong prevail

One who boldly triumphed through his doubts and pain
True Villan, captain, leader: our mighty Dane
Always a hero and forever our son
All true Villans salute you Martin Laursen

Would be nice of MON to read that out to Laursen in front of the Holte end against Newc.

I really do feel for the big lad - in today's game you can easily carry on until your late 30's - particularly in Centre of Defence (look at Hypia). He's been cruelly robbed of a good 6 or 7 more years I reckon, and how we're going to miss him. Here's hoping we can keep him on in a coaching capacity - he could certainly teach Davies a thing or two...
