Gabby Agbonlahor has today expressed his delight that we have the big man back after the back injury induced 3 month spell on the sidelines.
Speaking on the official site Gabby praised Carew's quick return to form and insisted that although results went our way, his presence and goal threat were sorely missed during his absence.
'We missed John. I know we were getting good results during that period but we definitely missed him.
'For him to come back now is a great boost to all the lads. He's hit top form very quickly and his goal tally in that period has been terrific.
'He has got into double figures in the league now, which is great.'
Speaking on his fellow strike partners Gabby thinks with everyone fit and raring to go we are well placed for next season in the striker stakes.
'Emile is a proven international and a tremendous forward and I have been impressed with Nathan too.
'When you see the lads train, he's still one of the youngest out there. I think he has a bright future ahead of him.'
I'm not sure fans will agree, Heskey can be given plenty of latitude due to his recurring injury problems, and Delboy because of his age and lack of experience but Heskey needs to come good next season and win us over.
Inspite of all that though, we still need a 20 goal a season poacher. A young Michael Owen would be ideal without the BUPA bill to be honest. Then we'd be set up for next season.
