Delboy The New Henry?

Delboy The New Henry?

Well French magazine Onze seem to think so after they recently compared our young lad to him.

Must admit I'm not seeing much of a comparison myself, afterall Thierry Henry is French for a start but I suppose it takes all sorts.

Anyway, after the revelation, Delfouneso has been speaking on the official site about his admiration for the former Arsenal striker.

'Henry is a player I've always admired. He was one of my idols when I was younger and I really like his style.

'I always enjoyed watching him because he's been one of the best players in the world over the past few years.

'When I was given a squad number and I learned number 14 was available, that's the one I wanted because it's the one Henry wears. I would love to live up to it.'

As for the magazine itself, it's a good job the official site have seen it, cause I've only just heard about it.

Apparently the mag dedicated an 8 page spread to the Villa, and said the following of Delboy:

'At 18, he is the future of the club and similarities with the French striker can only help his career.

'His speed, technique, style, defensive work, putting his thumbs up to his partner - they have many things in common.'

If Delboy can mature into half the player Henry became we'll have an absolute gem on our hands.

That said I love the comparison between them both 'putting their thumbs up'. He's guaranteed to make it now isn't it!

Quick Martin, scour the country for players who can put their thumbs ups!

I hate it when unproven talent gets compared to legends. It's almost like sod's law that they then go on to not live up to anywhere near their potential.

Well one thing's for sure - if he doesn't turn out to be the next Henry, it's bound to be Martin O'Neills fault ...
