Our Ash - PFA Young Player of the Year

After 2 months of nothing, Villa have actually won something!!! Well, our wing wizard Ashley Young has, but this is definitely something for us all to be proud of!!

While Manchester United's legend, Ryan Giggs won the Player of the year award, it wasn't a Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool youngster, but our very own Ashley who was awarded the coveted PFA Young Player of the Year award at the annual event this weekend.

Young beat off some tough competition from United's Jonny Evans and Rafael Da Silva, Aaron Lennon of Spurs and Stephen Ireland of Manchester City. Oh and some lad called Gabriel Agbonlahor too.

This for many has been an exciting season (not particularly in my eyes but never mind) and having two of our young guns nominated is superb, but to actually have one win the award is exceptional.

It has been a good year for both of the lads, they are both integral members of the team and both are fighting for a place in the England side. It is great to see both them getting the recognition they deserve.

This award is a real achievement for Ashley and hopefully it will help inspire the team to a couple of wins from our last few games.

Congratulations to Ash for winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award 2009!!!

Overpriced eh? Who's overpriced now then? Well done Mo'N and Ashley and all the players that supply him and allow those runs and crosses.
koolbill
lol, was reading all the article comments over and over to see what you were saying koolbill then the penny dropped! Certainly was seen as a risk at the time wasn't it? Wonder what he'll be worth in a season or two when he is fully formed (that is the nice thing about him and some of the others like Milner, they are still young and learning and nowhere near their peak)

And benham... big man? You weren't the one watching the webcam were you? I'll get me coat... :o(

He's played some awesome football this season. Quality to watch. Shame about more recently but taking nothing away. The right player won it.
