An Interview With A Wigan Fan

An interview with life long Wigan fan Worbo who will be 50 years young on Monday. Happy Birthday for after the weekend my good man, hopefully not so happy on Saturday though... sorry can't stretch that far!!!

1) So how is your season going, you happy with your current standing of 7th?

Season is going fantastically well, 7th on merit; with a bit more luck could have picked even more points, just hope that the sale of Palacios to Spurs wont effect us too much

2) Steve Bruce seems to be making a fairly good job of it, do you expect him to stay or will be eventually be tempted away?

I hope Bruce stays my only fear is that Whelan wont match his ambition and keep a tight reign on the purse strings, having said that we have spent some of the Palacios cash already and there have only been positives coming out of the club regarding the relationship between manager and chairman, so answer, do I expect Bruce to stay, yes

3) Where do you see Wigan finishing this season, have you got realistic hopes of Europe?

I hope we can catch Everton and take the 6th spot, depending on cup winners that could earn us a UEFA Cup place next season which would be absolutely superb, but it will depend on how the new signings settle, Mido, Watson and Rodallega and if we can keep hold of Valencia beyond next Tuesday.

4) We've already talked about Heskey at length in a previous interview

(Wigan Fan's Opinion On Emile Heskey and Another Wigan Fan's Opinion On Emile Heskey). He scored on his debut for us against Pompey, do you fear him coming back to haunt you now?

Heskey was immense for us in his time at the JJB and I recall Villa fans had a name for him..Emule Heskey, ring any bells?

I do fear him for Saturday and I am hoping that Scharner can keep him in his pocket.

5) What do you think of Villa? Not a lot after we tonked you 4-0 at your gaff I'd imagine!

Never bitter about getting beat by a good side and Villa are a good side

I am old enough to remember the Championship winning side you had back in the early 80’s with Peter Withe, Gary Shaw etc and your current crop remind me a lot of that team

6) If you could have a couple of our players, who would they be and why.

Wouldnt mind Gareth Barry and Ashley Young, Barry because he is sheer quality and a superb left foot, Ashley Young because he is destined to be an awesome player

7) Who would you send in our direction!?

Daniel DeRidder and Olivier Kapo, awful players

8) Do you hope Villa manage to break the top four stranglehold on the league or don't you give a jot!

Of course I give a jot, always nice to see one of the smaller clubs breaking the domination of the big four and I am sure you will have Champions League qualification by the end of the season ;)

9) So what do you think the score will be?

We’ve lost a bit of creativity with Palacios sold and Valencia injured so I am going for a dogged 1-1

Happy Birthday Worbo, 50 on Monday! We've been smaller than the top 4 in the last how many years? Think I know what he means. We have been a sleeping giant but look at position in league, silverware etc, we've not really acted 'big' in those years.
The Fear
you been a sleeping giant is what he means! ;-)

We've always been bigger than Chelsea...except for the last few seasons when they have just about bought the Title. Now things could be getting back to normal. Remember chelsea weren't even in the first division when we were champions.

I was taking the proverbial, thats what I meant...Villa are a big club and should be challenging
worbo
Happy Birthday Worbo but I can't see beyond a Villa result here given our run and your starting line up. Bring on the potatoe head!

Reel 'em in worbo, reel 'em in. Did you guys not notice his little winking smiley after his "small club" comment. I believe the bait was taken hook, line and sinker.. :) Emule? I always thought it was A Mule Heskey, although as we've already established "He used to be ****£ but now he's alright!!!!"

TBH I think your punching above your weight. Cant see you finishing in the top 10

Wigan? They're a good side, I think they need to be aiming high and I don't see how a top 10 finish is hard to believe.
