'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Heskey Says Villa Fans Are Fantastic

My word, from booooo (Villa fans name dragged through the mud - AGAIN) to hurrah in one easy step.

Emile Heskey has praised the Villa faithful saying the fans are behind the team 'every minute of the every game' saying our support has been 'fantastic'.

He is looking to reward the away fans this weekend with a win against Bolton Wanderers.

'We need to give them something to cheer about again on the road - hopefully starting this weekend. They make so much noise and the players really do notice that. That makes a massive difference. They get behind the team and we really love the atmospheres they create at each ground.'

He also says the team have been 'phenomenal' away from Villa Park this season and they aim to get back on track now.

How nice Emile, thank you for some sense and praise to the Villa faithful who have turned up in great numbers home and away despite ever tightening finances in this economic downturn!

Shockingly its because the real fans go away and the non booers, take liverpool for an example!! I'd rather have the 3k that go away for the home games and no one else than the constant whingers and moaners who will NEVER be happy.

This article completely sums up the fans of our club, on one hand you have the fanatical away support, who give everything to support the team over 90 mins, never get on the players backs, and clap them off at the end, even after a 5-0 defeat. Then you have the home support, where a number of fans boo anything other than a win.We have completely outplayed teams at home this season and not won, most notably wigan and stoke, played great football, yet the ignorant masses at Villa Park boo as we havent won. This will only drive both players and the manager away from the club.

Heskey needs to read what some of the fans think of him!!! Heskey is a great player and I am glad he joined our club.

what sums up the hardcore away lads was at anfield when we were 5 - 1 down. 'WERE GONNA WIN SIX - FIVE, WIN SIX - FIIIIIIIVE !!!!!!!' top notch.

The most notable thing about Heskeys comments are that he specifically aimed it at the vocal away support. His lack of any mention of the vocal home support speaks volumes. Those praising him for his comments should take note. Especially those who use the trinity library. It is hypocritical saying that you welcome his comments if you are one the fans who gives no vocal encouragement.

In true Ron Saunders style - I agree 110% with voiceoftheholte. I think there is a section of seats in the Trinity devoted to those with negative disposition. What's the phrase.... "misery loves company."

Ha ha ha. How a comment can be misinterpreted. he is clearly talking about the context of our away support, as constantly refers to them. Our home support is soooooo negative. As is the direction of the comments by Mr Fear being made towards Martin o'Neill, who is by far one of the best managers in the country. Success is obviously not on Mr Fears agenda!

I agree totally young_jonah and I'm simply voicing my own opinion that peoples negativity is ridiculous - we are top of our league!! Get used to the way football now, could we ever sign arshavin if we were in trouble of not reaching the top 4? at the moment its no, so we can't expect to compete with them any better than we currently are. As MON often says we won't stop trying, but its damn difficult - the stats don't lie!!

AVNath-couldnt have put it better, we are not in a position to compete with the pulling power of the top 4, thats a fact, but we are slowly getting there. With MONs policy of moulding the best young talent, we will hopefully get there

astonsteve, only since August have I been negative, and no I aint a boo boy. I voice my concerns via the forum on here, I don't agree with booing your players, but you don't have to blindly follow everything the boss and the players say or do, we are allowed opinions and I speak my mind on here. Match Days are about support, the week that follows is were we can complain if we feel the need.

young jonah that is actually quite a sensible post. Except for the fact that since August (when you became negative according to you) we have gone on a run that has taken us to 5th in the league, despite having played 14 more games than at this time last season. We have created the best winning streak away from home (spookily this is where we give the best vocal support - coincidence?) in the clubs history (damn that Martin O'Neil for doing something better than any other Villa manager in our history. We won all those games despite him though, not because of him didn't we?). Do not get confused with the poor run we have been on for the last couple of months with it being the whole season.
