'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Heskey Delighted With VP Goal

Emile Heskey has expressed his joy at netting his first Villa Park goal and he's hopeful, that it's the first of many.

He doesn't say how many, and I'm certainly not going to guess what his highest tally for the club may be but that's two goals since his move from Wigan and that's two more than most of us predicted.

Speaking on the official site, O'Neill's favourite target man said:

'It was very nice to get the first goal at Villa Park and hopefully I'll get many more.

'It was just nice getting the goal and going 1-0 up. In recent weeks we've been going behind and having to come back, but it was nice to go ahead.'

Being fair to Heskey, thanks to England, he's almost been permanently crocked since joining us and it has told in his performances. Against West Ham he was desperately unlucky to not grab a second when he pinged it off the post.

'I just anticipated him (Noble) playing it back to the goalkeeper so I got there and it was disappointing that it hit the inside of the post.

'The lads have taken to me really well so hopefully we can carry on in that same vein. It's been really good.'

I still think it's great to see 'Ivanhoe' in a Villa shirt after all these years. We should have bought him ten years ago, mind you!
