Ha! The Cock & Bull Transfer Season Is Upon Us!

Ha, it is the cock and bull season, sorry, I meant the transfer rumour season! It won't be long before we are linked with every player except the ones we actually buy but in the meantime, the rumours are slowly building.

According to the People we are after 4million rated right-back Marcos Angeleri the 26-year-old plays for Estudiantes de La Plata and is also an up and coming star for the Argentina national side.

The paper claimed Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla were also tracking the player. The one bit that interested me was the fact he can also play in the centre or at left-back, blimey Martin O'Neill could have a field day moving him about! :o)

Here is an expansive compilation of his highlights:

Quality, get him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, if you want a more serious clip, he also scores!

Roughly translated, the commentator is saying 'corr blimey, look at the little guy go, what a good goal, boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts isn't it?'

The People also claimed at the weekend that Spurs want to offload former Blackburn winger David Bentley. We are again linked with the player who we bid for last summer only for him to choose his boyhood team Spurs. However the move hasn't worked out for him and the papers are putting 2+2 together and linking Villa with a second - perhaps cheaper (!?) - bid for the England player. Everton and Atletico Madrid are also linked. Hey, I might as well add a couple of teams as well, think this is the way that you do professional reporting, so here goes, apparently Stockport County and Lincoln City are also interested. Don't worry, I'll get the hang of this journalist stuff one day.

Upson, Naughton, Defour, Downing, Owen, Sturridge, Johnson, Richards in........out Salifou, Harewood, and sadly I think but really hope not...Gareth Barry and Martin Laursen. Long loans to the Championship for Bannan, Albrighton, O'Halloran and Osbourne. Am I just a little too optimistic?

I think we must make a serious bit to get Owen. I'd put hin on a 40k per week basic and make his wages up with bonus (matches/goals/asists/etc). If he comes and scores 20 goals plays 40 matches in this day and age I'd give him 80-100k. Lets face it if Owen came and scored 20+goals with Carew and Gabby chipping in we'll be very close. Better still a fit Owen is more than capable of 20+goals. Newcastle could be down in a few week and a early signing like that would be a big signal of intent (Barry look on). Add Defour, Downing, Johnson and a serious Centre back and leftback. The new season would look very hopeful. We need to spend ~50m. A must must is early signings. I'm hoping Barry cares more for World Cups than sitting next to that fat spanish <|_|NT watching Gerrard and Alonso running around.

It is starting to look that over 38 matches Villa are about 10points short of 4th place. We need a slightly bigger squad but more importantly we need to improve the squads collective quality (sounds good!). Did Heskey Sidwell and Shorey do that? Umm.. Good night all!!!

Well it looks to me like MoN is already making excuses for another pore transfer window, has anyone else read in the paper today that he is saying we cant compete finatially with the big 4 plus some others? a statement like this so close to the window is a little suspicious if you ask me

The Fear, i thought something was up on the Vital AV site to make you post a comment at Vital Spurs. I've found a thread on summer transfers what a surprise! So are you guys interested in adding Darren Bent to your possible acquisitions list?

lol, no mate, I travel about a fair bit, I have all the sites on rss feeds so I can keep up with what other teams are up to as well (and what the eds are up to! LOL)

Not sure about Bent, he seems the sort that MON might go for, young, English etc. Certainly hasn't worked out for you guys and he seems to get slated a fair bit by Spurs fans but at the right club it might be different for him? Why do you think he is so unpopular at White Hart Lane? Do you also think Bentley will be gone? Thought he was a great signing but again, it just doesnt' seem to have worked does it?

Agree we need a quality centre back and prey Laursen is fit for next season, a true play maker in midfield to partner Stan as I cant see GB staying and someone who can find the back of the net on a regular basis. Anyone ever heard of this guy at least he things Villa is a "nice" club

Also seems we are interested in this fella but as he can play anywhere in midfield or attack he could be our next centre back

The Fear, maybe i'm not the best Spurs supporter to ask that question to as i am one of Bent's biggest critics, so my opinion may not be as balanced as it could be. Anyway, i like players who are hard working, honest and adaptable. Bent to be fair to him meets some of that criteria. I also like to see players in the Spurs tradition of flair, panache and style, players who will get you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of something special. This is sadly way beyond the capability of Darren Bent, so maybe a team who play a long ball game and can utilise Bent game to its fullest may be better for him. Bentley is that Spurs type player that Bent isn't so i hope he does stay. However he lacks that work ethic that Bent has. I believe his prolonged spell on the bench of late may have concerntrated his mind on what is required to regain his place. I hope he takes it on board and comes back next season as the player i know he can be in a Spurs shirt.

I would have Bent at Villa, and if buying Bentley meant Milner would be playing in the middle next season, then I would be happy to see him replace Barry.

not sure there are many that sing his praises from what I can see RichmondSpur!? Sometimes it takes a player time to settle in, that said, he really should have buried the header from 2 feet out the other day!

The Fear, this is Bent's 2nd season at Spurs, so he has had enough time and enough opportunities to settle in and win the fans over. With the amount of chances we create even given the poor start we had Bent could have easily scored 5-10 more goals. For every one he scores he misses 3 or 4 that are just as easy. Incidentally how is Ashley Young's form? We have been after a left side player for maybe 3 years now, can we do a swap Young for Bent!?

RichmondSpur, you can have Young for Bent AND Bentley AND 20 million - is that OK?

Andy, let's not get greedy now lol. Bentley was never and will never be part of the equation. We only want to sell Bent..LOL. Good luck for the remainder of the season.

If Barry goes we have his natural successor in Gardner drop Craig in and see him fly! I think he has the potential to be better than GB especially with his rocket shots!
