'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Milner And Barry On Villa's Character

Gareth Barry wants to see Villa go on and win all six of their remaining games (West Ham at home, Bolton away, Hull at home, Fulham away, Boro away and finishing against Newcastle United at home on the last day of the season).

The Villa skipper says all Villa can do is look after their own point tally and see where it leaves us at the end of the season.

He says it is disappointing despite better performances to only get 1 point from the last two games adding, 'We've got another home game coming up and hopefully the fans will come down again and get right behind us.'

Meanhile James Milner says the performance against Everton should give the team a real lift.

He told AVTV: 'It was important we bounced back this week and made sure we got something out of the game. It wasn't three points but at least we've stopped the rot. We've got a point on the board and can now hopefully kick on for the last six games. It gives the lads a bit of a morale boost this week and it is going to be happier going in to training knowing we've got a point.'

Both players said that Villa once again showed character to come back from 2 goals down (twice).

And on his superb free kick he said: 'Youngy has banged a few in this season. But we were practising in training and I just fancied it. I gave it a go and it went in. It was nice and it was at an important time of the game because if we hadn't have scored for five or 10 minutes maybe it would have been difficult to get back in it as they were in the ascendancy. To get that goal pegged them back a bit and gave us plenty of belief.'
