Barry Looking For Stylish Finish

Gareth Barry has called on the players to end the season in style, starting with a victory over Everton on Sunday.

Speaking on the official site Barry admitted that our form has been less than impressive this season, and has said that the players share the frustrations of the fans when it comes to that fact, but he believes a victory over Everton would kickstart a proper finish to league and a final battle to secure a Top 4 place.

'The fans are just as frustrated as us with our home form. We haven't won as many games as we'd like at Villa Park but a victory over a top team like Everton would lift everyone's spirits - the manager, the players and the fans.

'That could then spark a good run at home - and hopefully three more wins at Villa Park. That's how important Sunday's game is.

'There's no getting away from it - it is massive in the scheme of things. The impact of the result is huge when you look at where both clubs sit in the table.

'A good result - and three points - would kick-start our season. Not only would it widen the gap with Everton but it will help us as we look to chase down Arsenal for that fourth spot.

'If either team can put a run together of say six wins in seven, Champions League football is still possible.'

A lot of sense in his comments, Arsenal have some very tough games coming up so we definitely aren't out of the fight yet, we just need to start winning our games again.

Love the optimism. I just prey we beat everton. We need a win so badly its becoming a joke. If Gabby/Cuellar are out i just cant see it happening. PLEASE villa give us an easter sunday worth celebrating (no offence jesus).

I know God's supposed to be omnipotent but I'm fairly confident Jesus doesn't read Vital Villa! ;) God how we need a win though. In the pub with my mate tonight and we couldn't actually remember who our last win was against. :(

Although Everton aren't quite a top team, they're a darn sight better than the Man Utd side we lost to last Sunday. Our utter delusion at believing we performed admirably in losing to a very poor side, coupled with our abysmal home form, and compounded by the latest batch of injuries, suggests to me that we have scant chance of getting a point from this game, let alone a victory. Our confidence is shot, and the deluded belief that we're back on track after Sunday's demonstration that we have NO belief is no substitute. I can't even begin to imagine what yet another defeat is going to do to us. We should be dead certs for fourth, and yet after Sunday, 6th is going to seem like the best we can hope for if we overtaken by Everton. We're going to need a heck of a lot of luck to get the win we so desperately need.

We're more than capable of beating Everton, but teams a lot less competent than todays visitors have left Villa Park with a favourable result, so I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Blackburn Rovers wasn't it Adam Deuce? And who would have thought, when leaving Ewood Park, and driving back to Brummagem that afternoon, that we were about to begin the horrendous run, that has seen us knocked out of both the F.A. and UEFA Cups, and all but surrender all hope of a top four finish?
