Everton Injury Doubts

Everton Injury Doubts

The news just keeps getting better and better! Gabby and Cuellar are doubts for the Everton clash.

After a sterling performance against Man U we were all hoping for a rousing return at Villa Park against Everton this weekend; a nice balanced side, complete with natural leftback and players in their own positions, but this is now not looking likely.

Agbonlahor is ill with a virus and Cuellar has injured his back. However fitness tests will no doubt take place late Saturday, or early Sunday morning before the final decision on their availability is made.

Heskey, Laursen and Bouma have already been ruled out of the game.

Steve Sidwell could make a return after recovering from his ankle injury, but it's likely he'll be on the bench.

FFS, if we lose those 2 its gonna be another painful weekend for villa fans. What i wouldnt give for strength in depth.

Blessing in disguise??? Forces us to play 4-3-3/4-5-1?? Milner and Young very advanced in support of Carew. Petrov, Barry and Nigel/Sidwell/Gardner in midfield. Knight in at CB alongside Davies keeing Shorey and L Young in their natural positions. I think that is most likely anyway as he is unlikely to play The Fonz from the start.

Gutted for Gabby. He has had some bad press recently which is mainly down to being played to death by MON. He did O.K. in the Manure game and is a constant worry for defences. Cuellar was getting a chance to be played in his favoured position and doing well. At least Heskey is injured though, shame that Nige is fit as knowing MON he will be playing in GOAL because the midfield is full up.....

I wouldn't rule Gabby out just yet. He is always more than willing to go the extra mile to make sure he plays, although admittedly a virus isn't like shaking off a knock. It can leave you feeling pretty drained, as we all well know. Fingers crossed he makes it. He has that knack of scoring against The Toffees, a knack we are going to need on Sunday afternoon.

Zat is a more than adequate replacement for Carlos Cuellar, so at least we have reliable(?) cover there if needed. Cuellar hasn't as yet won me over, even when playing in his favoured central defensive position, but no doubt given time he'll prove himself to be a quality premiership defender.

My guess is that Gabby will play, despite not being close to being fully fit. He will then probably have a dog of a game, get pelters for being a lazy donkey, and finally be substituted with 5 minutes to go. But as I say, it's just a guess.
