Nigel Clough is falling in love with Barry Bannan and is hoping he can extend the loan spell for the little man.
The 19 year old has been very impressive at Pride Park after joining on a one month deal, but Clough is hoping to get the agreement of O'Neill for the loan to be extended as Derby battle to avoid relegation.
Speaking to the Derby Evening Telegraph (delivered everyday you know!) Clough Junior praised both his attitude and his versatility:
'Barry's shown enough, either coming on or starting, and he's given us something a bit different.
'He can fill a number of positions. If Kris Commons wasn't fit, he could go and play off the front man or go wide left or wide right or even in the centre of midfield. So he's a good little player to have around.
'We will be getting in touch with Villa to see if we can extend the loan.'
Personally I can't see any reason why Villa wouldn't extend the loan, Barry is gaining valuable experience and given the nature of the Championship he's proving he can be effective even if he's not built like a brick poo house.
He'll learn far more playing for Derby than he will in our reserves that's for sure.
