Unoial Villa News...
Some gossip sites yesterday were saying that Spurs are after Villa striker John Carew and are prepared to use Jermaine Jenas (apparently a target for MON if Gareth Barry leaves in the summer, did I say IF? I meant when!) as part of the deal.
Other reports are saying that Darren Bent will be allowed to leave Spurs in a summer clearout and Villa are being linked.
Dion Dublin agrees with angry fans that what Martin O'Neill did in Moscow was nothing short of wrong and Graham Taylor also expresses his views... unfortunately so do I..! Full article: Moscow Meal An Admission Of Guilt?

Vital Villan: Stiliyan Petrov has admitted he is gutted over our inability to see matches to the end, and has called on the team to become more consistent in games. Speaking on the official site after yesterday's disappointment, Petrov was upbeat about the fact that we showed we could compete with the 'very best', now we have to learn how to beat them and beat them well. He expressed a certain sense of confusion as to how we managed to lose the game, but didn't go quite as far as mentioning the officials.. Full article and quotes: Petrov's Form Desire

Vital Villan: It was confirmed last week that Gabby Agbonlahor has scored 11 league goals this season, not 10. If we all cast our minds back, well O'Neill's reminded us of it enough lately, to the West Brom match in January where our second goal was credited as a Carson blunder. The Dubious Goals Panel have in their latest meeting, decided to give the goal to it's rightful owner. So all you Gabby haters with your games without goals stats need to think again!
The Villa store will be closed on Sunday due to the Easter trading restrictions. So for those wanting to go shopping - go another day! :o)
Gabby Agbonlahor says that the goal v Manchester United has given him renewed confidence. 'The goal against Manchester United gave me a fresh boost of confidence and I want to follow it up with another now on Sunday. It's a vital game.'
Stiliyan Petrov still has hopes that Villa can finish fourth. He told the Mirror; 'Manchester United are fighting to be champions but we definitely matched them man for man. We were unlucky at Old Trafford, but we have worked so hard all season we're not just going to let it go easily. Arsenal have a hard schedule to come - they still have to play Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.'
Villa man of the match v Manchester United was won by John Carew with 42% of the votes. Gareth Barry was next, for the rest: Villa Man of the Match v Manchester United
Apparently Manchester City are still trying to keep hold of young striker Daniel Sturridge and are going to give him a final 'take it or leave it' offer. If not both Chelsea and Villa are waiting in the wings to take the 19-year-old who is available on a free (well, due to age they'd get some money but not in line with usual valuations) in the summer.
Gareth Barry has called for vocal support from the Villa fans until the end of the season at Villa Park. Maybe we should be cheeky and ask him to sign a new contract! :o) Gareth Barry Calls For Vocal Home Support
Vital Villan: Stiliyan Petrov has hinted that he is set to sign a new contract according to Setanta. The Bulgarian midfielder has enjoyed a great season of late, having had a couple of years lacking any real input into the Villa team. The club began talks late last month, and the 29-year old ex-celtic player seems happy that he`ll stay on. Speaking to the Brum Mail he said: 'They [agent and club] met the other week and things are in progress, so we`ll see what happens. I`ve always been optimistic. Don`t forget I`ve still got another year to go and a lot of things can happen. I`ll be happy to sign it, but you never know, that`s football.' Full article: Petrov Set to Sign On?
Vital Villa asked in our last poll, what is most important to you, club or country? The poll results I would think reflect what most fans of most clubs think, it is club first, second and third! 81% voted club in our poll with just 10% saying country. That left 9% saying they had 50/50 split loyalties.
Thought for the day: You can't have everything....where would you put it?
