Cascarino Says Villa Have Hit A Brick Wall

Tony Cascarino, pundit for the New Football Pools says that Aston Villa have hit a brick wall and won't catch Arsenal in the race for 4th spot.

'It’s safe to say Aston Villa have hit a brick wall just at the wrong time in the season. The worrying signs for Villa fans were there for all to see in the recent home defeat to Tottenham. Earlier in the season the team looked nice and compact and gave few chances away. However, now opposing teams are being allowed to run freely at Villa’s back four which is one of the main reasons why they are struggling.

The Tottenham game really exposed the fact that the Villa midfield are not doing enough tracking of opposition runners in the centre of the park. At times the likes of Wilson Palacios and Luka Modric were able to cut through Villa’s midfield like a knife through butter. That’s a huge problem for Martin O’Neill as though he possesses defenders that are not bad they are also not great. Defenders like Zat Knight, Curtis Davies and Luke Young are not the top end of the scale so they do need midfield protection. This is basically why the team are conceding as much as they are at the moment.

If you don’t match up to the opposition in midfield you are going to struggle. This run of poor results has basically ended their hopes of Champions League qualification as now they’ve lost their momentum I can’t see them catching Arsenal who have hit form at just the right time.'

Heskey is Cascarino 10 years ago.

he,s a right dick head .but on this he,s very probably right

P rick! I wonder if he puts chapstick around his sphincter before he speaks.

I'm sorry but nothing about that is right. Luke Young especially is a top defender who could do as good a job as anyone in a top 4 side. And we've been playing this way for most of the season we've just done enough to scrape us through a lot of games. Arsenal are obviously in a better position to do it than us but they haven't done it yet and I don't think they're as solid as people say even when Fabregas does come back for them. Hype merchants, I hate it.

Actually 444 it's almost 20 years since Cascarino came in and destroyed our title ambitions...!! Point well made, even if it makes me feel very very old....

Tony who? I thought Petrov and Barry played alright at spurs but i agree the defence needs hardening. Freddie and Martin SOS
medzy
Silly man, and quite ugly.

People actually pay this bell-end for stating the obvious, one of the worse players i`d ever seen.

cascarino was ***** and obviously talks the same way as he played

Hes right about your midfield. You should 4-5-1 you looked so solid and hard to beat with 3 in midfield instead of just Barry and Petrov. And Luke Young isnt a top defender although hes pretty decent. He wouldnt get anywhere near the top4s defence. Anyways Good luck 2moro dudes... Youre still in a great position and after 2moro all your games are very winnable.

It's a funny thing that he says this as when he played for us I would have liked to have hit him with a brick wall.
Cheshire Villan
Well at least we have hit a brick wall - that clown (Cascarino) would have missed one from a yard out. The guys an idiot, another scribe who gets by with the minimum amount of talent and knowledge.

Still believe we signed the wrong centre-forward from Millwall. We should have snapped up Teddy, not Tony.
